Deals on 6-pt Autopower Roll Cage
I've been looking for a used 6-pt AP cage with door bars for quite a while now to no avail (search all forums every couple days). Does anyone you know want to get rid of theirs? If so please let me know. If no one is selling it, I might go for a new one.
For a new AP 6-pt cage, is ioportracing.com a good and cheap place to buy from? I tried to "add to cart" and see how the total cost would be like with shipping, but it says shipping would need to be determined later. How much does shipping usually cost?
TIA.

dont forget the changes in cage rules that went into effect this year. You dont want to be stuck with a not-legal cage.
Shipping, from what ioport says, is usually around $100.

ERW tubing is not allowed on new logbooks anymore. If the car already has a logbook, its grandfathered in. So if you bought a used cage that was ERW, it wouldnt be legal to put it in...

Thanks for the heads-up guys. Yeah I checked the rules and I would be looking at DOM.

No. But DOM is stronger and if you ever plan on racing... it would suck to have to throw away a cage.

Just mentioned that because a used cage would most likely be ERW.

Good luck. Most local builders take a few days to build and will take a few weeks to a few months to book. Autopower cages will take 6+ weeks to get to you usually.

If anyone is interested I have an autopower 6pt roll cage for sale. It is 1.5"x0.120" DOM. It's for a DC2 integra hatchback.
Cage is in Phoenix AZ. I'm not sure about shipping as it is too big for UPS and it was delivered via truck freight. Anyone have ideas on shipping this thing?

As noted-unless the cage is in a car with a valid logbook from 2002 or earlier-it is not legal to use an ERW cage. The DOM rule was put in effect on 1/1/03. Also keep in mind that the the preferred install is to weld the cage in if the car is dedicated to competition. One other thing-that I ran into for a street legal car was the door bars and how they are installed. In PA you cannot have them such that they interfere with the window crank. Just something to consider.
