Sounds like a pretty good setup. You could bump the compression a little with JDM ITR or even CTR pistons.

go with the p30's pistons so you dont have to machine anything. ANd that should give ya some decent compression also.

how outta control is your driving?
If you rev to 9000 every day you might want to think about a girdle.
Definitely swap the oil pump, water pump, timing belt, and main seal while you got the engine out of the car. Make sure you use VTEC parts of course.

i would also go with over sized pistons as well (81.25) just to make sure you have a completely true cylinder wall. i didnt when i put mine togther with PR3's and now im running in to problems with pistons that are not true to my bore. but as they say what doesnt kill you only makes you stronger...(OS CTR's are in the mail )

your set up is almost the same as mine, vtec oil pump and water pump with belt is key also. you should be very happy, i am

how did he "blow" the motor what broke ?
and in doing an ls turbo doesnt mean it wont "blow" pesonally id trust an lsvtec over ls turbo PLUS an lsvtec spec'ed out as listed would out run the turbo (unless you tune it right and keep it that way :/

there was a detonation inside the motor and head bolts stripped out cause the block to be junk.
