Brother got owned
My brother (also has an S2k) got hit about an hour ago. I checked out the damage and both his front wheels are bent in at about a 60 degree angle, fenders are completely buckled. bumper is cracked in half. My question is does this sound reparable, or if the wheels are bent, does that pretty much mean the frame is screwed?

Probably just tie rods or control arms bent or broken. I can't comment on the frame without seeing it person. But its quite possible that its repairable. Hope your brother is ok.

definitely sounds repairable, even if the frame is a little bad if you can get access to a frame machine then it can be fixed. The bigger concern I would have would be are the headlights ok, I didnt hear you mention anything about them so hopefully they are ok.....
Hope your bro is well. Sorry to hear about the accident. Sounds to me like it is repairable though. Same thing happened to me on the driver's side and I was up and running by the next day.
My knuckle broke off completely. My lower tie arm was bent and the A arm snapped completely.

We got some video of the car, but of course the computer with the capture card is broken now. I'll hopefully have some pics up later today. My brother found though that the jack points are now not lined up on the passenger side... the front one is about 5 inches in toward the center of the car. Still waiting to hear from the insurance so we can start demanding some money.
The suckiest thing about it is he actually kept such good care of it. It never had a scratch, was always garage kept since it was at the dealer (well showroom kept there). It only had 12k miles on it. It's a 2000 silver/red.. #3200 I beleive. In his mind that car cannot be replaced with another s2k. Anything with that low miles will have the glass back window which he hates. And if he can find one with 12k miles from 2000 (or 2001) what are the chances it will be silver/red and have been detailed every month. Bleh, anyway, hopefully its not totalled and the frame is repairable.

Any reason WHY your brother prefers the cheap hazy plastic window (00-01) as opposed to the glass window (02-03)? That really boggles my mind.

Have you ever driven an 00-01? If you keep the plastic window clean, it's much nicer. The glass widow is not only heavier, but you can't see through it, it's way too small. I have the plastic window in my s2k and I've NEVER had any problems seeing through it. With the glass window I had to rely on my side views all the time.
Even if your bro can fix the car, I doubt he would be satisfied with a repaired car. I say that 'cuz he's been waxing and keeping a great care of the car from day one. And, a bodyshop repaired cars just aren't the same. G'luck.
Finally got some pics.. sorry for the lq, they were taken from a video. The shop said the frame isn't damaged, so woohoo for that. They should be able to fix it back to 100% original. His question now is, would imola orange look bad with red interior? The resale is shot do to the wreck on the carfax now, so he might as well personalize it a bit I think.
I personally don't think it would be very pleasant with the orange/red combo. You have to find a pretty neutral color to work attractively with the red interior.
What are the details of the incident. The damage is odd.(mainly on the 2 front fenders)

Car pulled out from a parking lot and hit him in the passenger fender, which knocked him into oncoming traffic where his driver fender got whacked.
We're thinking of swaping the black interior from mine with his red so that he can go imola. Not sure if it's worth the effort though.

i hate to say this, but another one will not be as important to him as the old one. i've been going through that since april 29th (when i got my second one), and i don't treat it anywhere near how i treated my old on.
btw: it is possible to find one with that low mileage. i bought a MY2001 with 5,000 miles on it.

i don't like the way the MY2002+ rear window looks from the outside, and if you keep the MY2000-2001 clean, there's really a lot more visibility than you think.

i've never tried it, but from what i've heard, it's not as hard as you think.

what does the insurance company say?? is he being put at fault?? i wouldn't think he would be, and honestly even if there is no frame damage i personally dunno if i would want to have my car fixed after something that bad happened to it....
if he isn't at fault why not try to get himself a replacement?? i read that he didn't really want to get a different one because of the back window, etc., but honestly if he can, he would probably be better off just getting a different S...... hell, why not wait and get the S2200??

Ya, the guy that hit him on the right side is paying the damages. well it's gonna be repairable.. $13k and counting in parts ... $1500+ for rental in the meantime... They're not gonna total it though, although they're quickly approaching the point where they should have. The mechanics at the Honda dealer say it will be no problem making it like new again, they just basically need a whole new front end less the engine and frame. He's getting the jdm headlights and side markers since his headlights are crushed. Probably using the extra money to go Imola orage and get all the BS legal upgrades (Shocks/strut bar/brake pads and some hoosiers once his v700's wear out). Should turn out to be a pretty phat b-stock car when he's done.
I'm gonna repost once everythings settled.. and some pics (higher quality) of the fix'in process.

The shop ripped his car down and they're calling this one totalled. Kinda lame since they were so sure it wouldn't be. He's going to buy mine off me, and I'm gonna get something I can play with a little more. Instead of spending $400 a month on an S2k, I'll just pay something off and spend $400 a month messing with my Civic. Looks like he's going to buy the seats and door panels off his old one, but leave the carpet. (I have black interior, he likes red.)
26,900+Taxes and such is the current price they're quoting him. He's fighting for a bit more, so it's not settled.

Well new update. I'm outta the s2000 game. My old s2k is now sitting in my brothers garage. We're still waiting for the insurance to compensate him for the rental, they only budgeted him for the lowest peice of **** that enterprise had to offer, a Chevy cavalier with manual windows and locks. There's a law in Texas where they're required to compensate you for a car of equal value supposedly, so he's still fighting for a little extra from the rental (maybe he can claim it on the Pain and Suffering, I mean, a cavalier?!) . Anyway, my s2k got replaced by an unlikely candidate, a Civic Hybrid with a CVT tranny. I have to say Honda did a great job making that a comfortable car. The CVT rules, and the guage cluster is fun to watch, but dang is it slow. It's for my wife though, so I guess it doesn't really matter. After this whole thing is over, my bro's going to have a little extra cash to soup my (now his) s2k up. Probably getting that new bolt for the engine that everyone's going on about, as well as replacing the brakes pads and shocks. Kinda lame mods, but he's trying hard to do everything he can and remain in in b-stock.

NO ****!!! I found out when washing my S, that the driver's fender has been replaced and the passenger's side fender has been taken off too.....
None of that **** showed up on carfax... What a rip off.
Its ok though, I still love my S, and besides, when I go 110 she still drives straight so it couldn't have been too bad of accident.

Well they initial estimate was $9600, but that was without taking it apart... after taking it apart it it was about $16k and climbing every hours that they looked at more things. When it reached $16k is when they said screw it and totalled it out.
