Default I think I need to jump on this...

Saw a white crx sitting outside a backyard type repair shop and went up and talked to the guy who owns it and its a 91 hf with a del sol motor (I'm assuming the non-vtec one, he didnt have the keys to it on him) He's looking for $1500, it has chipping paint on the front bumper from rocks, small chips around the door edges, and very minor rust on the rear panels where it meets the rear bumper. Everything but the engine is stock. No ac. Trim actually looks good, not sure on the mileage on the body. So I'll be back up there this weekend to see if the sunroof leaks and if the compression on the motor is good. I wish it was an 88 but eh, it should do, anybody have an opinion on this buy? I'm hoping to get him down to $1300. Thanks.

Apparently, its definately an hf and it definately has a sunroof or moonroof or w/e its called, I dont know the diff, heh. It was made in Ohio and it never came with ac. As far as I know all the crxs had the option of sunroof, it was just the Si that always had it.

if there is visible rust, make sure to really check for rust in other spots. rust is not something that is easy to deal with...

if it truley is a HF then the moonroof, or sunroof or whatever it has on it, is aftermarket, no crx came stock with a sunroof EXEPT the Si, alot of people use to have them put in, you can still find some now, around everyonce in a while, but like already stated, make sure that the rust you can se is the only rust there is, or if there is any more. rust is hell for these cars. otherwise doesnt seem to bad, have you seen the motor yet? id like to know whats really in there. you could be lucky and its a sohc vtec or REALLY damn lucky and it be a b16(not likely). in wich case(pending a test drive) i would say get it.

If even a speck of rust is visible, that means there's a ton of it on the other side of the panel. When you see it on the outside of the car, it means it started in the wheel well and completely ate through the metal to reach the outside.

it soundsl ike a good deal but i would have someone who knows about mechanics ( and is good) who possibly can tell you a little bit about rust repair ...Paint can hide an ENORMOUS amount of the corrosion left by rust and its best to know what youre getting yourself into before getting a piece of **** that you'll regret in da long run ....good luck dawg!

Well if has the HF painted emblem on the back, no rear wiper, stock black 13" steelies, but it has a sunroof. If I do buy it I will certainly post pics all around. As for the rust its not on the rear quarter, its on like the bracket piece that holds the rear bumper flush with the wheel well. Kinda hard to describe. But yeah I could only give it a once over bc it was backed up to a line of bushes so I couldnt get around and under it. And the guy said he paid about $1000 for the engine so it sounds like a z6 complete swap, seem about right? If its the crappy d15 I'll offer him maybe a grand or he can take the engine and I'll take the shell for 300 or so. We'll see whats up.
