NEW PRODUCT: Cobalt GT-Plus High-Performance Street Compound
Cobalt Friction Technologies has developed a new high-performance compound for use on the street -- the Cobalt GT-Plus. Based on a Kevlar/Ceramic composition, our in-house field and lab testing has shown a higher static friction level than OE by approximately 10-12%, while maintaining a truly low dust level with excellent rotor and pad wear rates.
The Cobalt GT-Plus is designed to be a daily-driver pad, for those individuals who desire overall better braking performance on the street versus OE and other street compounds, but do not participate in track events. The ocassional autocross will not be an issue with the GT-Plus, but the main design profile for this compound is reliable/consistent, high-performance street use.
The Cobalt GT-Plus has been molded in various shapes for outside testing. I have allocated 2 sets in the ITR front fitment (D503) for use by two Honda-Tech.com ITR owners. The ideal tester will use their ITR as a daily driver, and log a minimum of 50 miles per day, over the course of one month. The two beta testers will be required to return the brake pads after a one month period, while keeping accurate notes on actual mileage. After examining the brake pads, these two testers are welcome to the brake pads for their continued use if they so desire.
Please send e-mail to andie@cobaltfriction.com if you wish to be considered for field testing. Details will be discussed via e-mail or telephone.
Best regards,
Andie Lin

put me down for a set whenever my porterfield R4S's are finished. unfortunately it's been 3 years and there is still a ton of meat left on them so it won't be for a long time.

andie says low dust and at most occassional autox usage. the pad sounds like it's strictly for the street.

Wish I had seen this last weekend ... had to buy brake pads for my gfs BMW. Ended up getting cheep PepBoy pads, but from now on out, will get these!!!
Question: I heard a rumor that Cobalt pads are bad for your rotors and that they can kill small children if not kept on a leash, is this true?
Cobalt has done it yet again.
Awesome stuff Andie!
I would also like to know how these compare to the Ultimates though. I'm guessing they are right between the Ultimates and the GT-Sports, but I'm probably wrong. Anyway, I love my GT-Sports, loved my Spec B's, and I absolutely adore my buddy's Spec VR's.
