Default h22 vs h23 tranny

the swap i bought cam with an h22 engine and a h23 tranny. this is not going to be an all out race car or anything but i want it to do alright, it is going into a 92 cx hatch and i was wondering if the h23 tranny is really going to hurt me, compared to using the non lsd h22 trans. please let me know asap. i have sales pending

Here are the specs... first line is 1st gear, and last line is final drive.

H23
3.307
1.857
1.320
1.034
.812
4.266

H22
3.307
1.950
1.360
1.071
.871
4.266

I have heard about people shifting at 8k on the H22a to keep it in VTEC, just to give you an idea of how it will be on the h23 tranny.

P.S. - Specs were found on h22a.org

it will make a big difference. i'd sell the h23 tranny and get an h22. lsd is really what you need, m2b4.

i have an h23 tran on my h22. It only falls out of vtec in the 1st to second shift, and only by about 300 rpm. It works fine for me, and it was about half the cost of the h22 tranny.

Those ratios in the H23 tranny are for a motor that redlines 1000rpms lower than the h22a tranny

Get the h22a tranny, you will be glad you did

so the h23 pluss a few hundred dollars for the h22 tranny would be a smart choice?

go with the h22 if you have the cash. If not, no worries. I think my h23 tranny works great.

the cheaper you can get the h22 tranny the better. salvage yards won't have them for less than $500 and some places charge up to $1000+ for them. i bought my replacement h23 tranny for $300 shipped.

i've seen the JDM lsd h22a trannies go for $600 on a few occasions....but i've also seen them go for twice that....just like the JDM p13...i sold mine for $200, which is average, but i've seen used ones go for over $400.....fluctuating market

but i don't see a problem going with the h23....a bit slower accleration, but you'll like the highway rpm a lot better....i'm on the interstate a lot, and at 80mph, my rpm are way up there.....wish i had the f22 5th gear
