Default 91 Prelude needs to go fast???

What can I do with a 91 lude? Nos? Turbo? Has no mods. It's not mine. My friend at work has 3 grand to put into it this winer and wants me to do the labor. I was just wondering what I could do with it.

Oh, it's an automatic also

Well. This has been covered alot. I will say that the engine is a b21 or b20 correct? The engines were never meant to be turboed or nasssssed out. I would tell him to work on the suspension. Though the best way to give it more power, because its a auto would be to swap a h22 into it. Best bang for the buck.

You will never get an H22 motor and manual tranny in that car for 3k. IMO, sell the car and take the 3k+ and buy something that is already fairly quick. I turboed my 3rd gen for 3k and made 210+ to the wheels. I also had an engine fire (P/S line) and then put it back together and blew the 3rd cylinder ring land before long. In the meantime I bruised the egos of a lot of Mustang owners. I sold the turbo kit since I could not afford to do it right. To go turbo on a 3rd gen you need a built engine, turbo kit and aftermarket ecu. You can't do that for 3k.

Just depends on what you want to do. I really love the 3rd gen but few people do. They are slow as hell and there is almost nothing you can do cheap to make them fast. If you have way too much time on your hands go with a really nice nitrous setup and use the left over money to buy a spare engine for when you blow up the one you have. Or if you are really creative, put an LS crank in the B20/B21, destroke the engine and go with higher compression pistons and custom rods and let me know how much power it makes. I have an LS crank and it seems to fit in the block just fine. I just don't have the money right now to try it. I will one day though. I wonder what that motor would do with a better rod/stroke ratio and high compression. If the Speed Channel World Challenge Proteges can make 210+ WHP with a 140 HP engine then why can't a 3rd gen make 180WHP? Of course, the Protege engines cost 15k!!!!

You could take the 3K + 2 to 3K more for selling it. Then you have about 6K to buy a new car? Just an idea

sounds like the perfect opportunity to get a 92 S13 and have enough left over to get yourself a redtop SR20det+tranny. If you've got some nissan friends u might even get it installed with money left over for a 6 pack.

I was in the same situation, I had a 90 Si lude. He is really limited with his options. So I sold the lude got a hatch and a b16a and thats that.

Yup, Ive talked to this guy about selling his ride, and taking the 3 k and what ever he gets from the car, so he could buy a civic hatch that has lots of potential to get fast. BUT, he loves his freekin Prelude and won't do it. He says civics come a dime a dozen. I tell him, its because everyone else was smarter than him.

Not much you can do with a third gen. Anything done to that car cost some green and alot of it, better off getting something else with more potential And better performance for the dollar.
