CEL / MIL # 40 with Hondata any thoughts?
So recently I've had the Check Engine Light come on while driving, when I turn the car off and turn it back on the CEL goes away. Now when I short the connector and check to see what code it is I have a # 40 come up...but what in the hell is CEL # 40?
Even if I reset the ECU, the code comes back within a day. I've noticed that this code only comes on when I drive the car after it's been sitting for a while. If I drive the car for a while, then turn it off, then start it again and drive the car the CEL doens't come back on. I have a '01 Type-R running an S200 with a Hondata modified P06(P28) ecu.
Anyone have a clue to this?

Maybe check the sequence of lights again.

Thanks BPR...I've pulled this same code 5 different times, I even went back to check the code when I found that #40 didn't exist.

You sure it's not code #4? If you are really pulling a code #40 (4 long blinks), there is a problem within the ECU or the Hondata. If you have datalogging, you could run with the datalogging going, and then replay the event when the code trips. Just examine all of the sensors, and look for anything unusual.

Yep...quite sure that it was a #40, pulled it 8+ times. After speaking with Hondata they think that right after start something is going on with the short/long term fuel trim. If I start the car, run it for a minute, turn it off then drive away the CEL doesn't come on.
