What is your question again? I do not understand R12 and R134 content. Is there something I'm missing?

Pretty sure it was 1994

And R12 to R134 refers to the type of refrigerant used in the a/c system.

Well, I figured if anyone knew the answer they would know what I was talking about but for the record I'm asking what year the refrigerant (for AC) was changed from R12 (Freon) to R134. Sorry if I was confusing before.

I thought it was a little later than that...

Thanks Yell00ITR, I'm trying to find the exact year because I'm looking at a beater and it has dead AC and if I have to retrofit it that will ba a good bargaining chip. The car is a 1994 so do you think it was changed for the 94 year models or after that?

I think this was mandated by the Gov, but some MFG switched earlier on specific models. So to answer you question is if it before '94 check it out.

It varied by model.

The Integra introduced R134a beginning in the 1994 model year.

Definitely. (Ask the guy who owns one. )

'01 ITR PY 1091
'94 GS-R MR 8855 (still in the family)
'91 NSX FR/I 0949

they switched for 1994. The reasons, some say they were environmental, others say economic/political. Whatever the case, you can still buy R-12 with the proper epa certification. its a total sham, anyone can get it online at http://www.epatest.com. But the reason to switch from r-12 isnt because its "banned", its because it is expensive. At 25 bucks or so per can it is expensive to top off a few cans during hotter months if the system has leaks. I wouldnt convert, I have heard bad things about conversions. I am currently running es-12 in my 91 teg it is pretty cold for a 10 year old system. It definitley keeps me comfortable, and my car is black with black leather, no tint, and very HOT. Do a search (web) for envirosafe es-12 and you will find some retailers. Also check the board at aircondition.com for more info on these subjects.

So if I have a 94 GSR, I have a R134 right? Regardless if it's a early model year GSR?
