01 B18C5 making odd noise
Motor makes an odd noise after I shut it down. It makes a loud thunk every couple of minutes for about a half hour after I shut it down.
Also it takes FOREVER to cool down and runs a little on the warm side. Any ideas as to what may cause this?

elaborate on this? you mean the temp show on the temp. gauge is higher than normal temp. (a little below the mid point)? takes forever to cool down????

Probably just the exhaust system cooling.
More detail please.

The temp needle reaches the half way mark and holds steady after about 60 seconds of normal driving. I can leave the hood popped and the car off and after about 6 hours the motor will still be really warm. when I had the valve adjustment done, the mechanic also commented about the car taking longer than normal to cool down to the point where he could work on it.

Check your coolant and oil. Temp needle is coolant temperature btw.
As long as it is going halfway and not higher - that's normal.
As for working on the car when it's hot - use gloves? What's the problem?
