if i were to get a zc for my hatch do you have to get a zc hood to make room for the zc motor ...... cause i read a few things about zc hoods and how they make room for the dohc engine but was wondering if i would absolutely

No. For a B16 With a mount kit, the answer is No.

With a ZC the answer is no.

I dont have a ZC hood and I have no problems, though I will be buying one eventually for a purely cosmetic purpose.

sometimes the timing belt cover rubs on the hood. so what you can do is run without the upper cover... or you can put washers on the driver's side mount to lower the motor by just a bit, maybe something like 1/4".

I've done three ZC swaps into CRXs.

One didn't rub at all

Another rubbed so slightly all it did was leave a small 1/2 inch scuff on the timing belt cover

The last one rubbed and left a nice three inch contact mark on the tbelt cover. Added a couple washer spacers on the mount and it was better but not perfect. We trimmed out some of the insulation on the hood and now its nearly rub free. Later found out his car was in an accident so that may account for it.

u dont need the zc hood, u can get around it 3 ways:
1. run without the timing belt cover
2. remove some ribbing from the underside of your stock hood
3. lower the engine a little

i say get the zc hood, it looks cool and u might as well get it seeing that you will have a zc swap, its just...cool lol
