I hope you're going NA... my S1 is insanely short. No kidding, I cruise through town in 5th gear at 35 mph... You can call http://www.hmotorsonline.com they might have something. Sirry I can't help more than that.

yeah the jdm Ys1 and j1 (s1,a1) are short as hell but quick around town, the y1 (which i have) is nice i like it agressive around town but still nice on the highway. The j1, and jdm ys1 suck on the highway. Dont get an ls tranny they suck, i had one i could do 114 in 3rd it was so gay. but i imagine the ls would be nice for boost in a 10 second crx..

There is no such thing as an "Xsi" tranny....thats the name of the VTEC model Integra in Japan.....if I'm not mistaken, the tranny models vary from s1/j1/y1, even ys1, like the Sir hatch does. There isn't one trans for that car. Try HMO they'll have some sort of a B-series trans for sale.

It might not be called an "xsi" tranny, but a J1 is a cable tranny from an older Integra. I should know since my swap ended up being from an XSi.

J1's do suck on the highway, annoyingly. But they will reward you in quick acceleration like no other. And yes you can cruise in 5th gear and still pull just fine for normal driving.
another giveaway are the dashpots on the intake manifold.

Hope that helps!

also the 92-93 Xsi OBD1 Motor Equals= 170HP

And Comes with a YS1 92-93 GSR tranny = Can be rebuilt with USA 92-93 GSR parts and a very good tranny eats lot of gas in freeway around 4+k at 80-90.

Its the next best Tranny if you don't have a YS1 LSD...

The Acura dealership here couldn't really direct me to a non Acura part and their 5th gear was out of stock in the whole us.
We could use an aftermarket 5th gear for this one.

Anyway... hardly anyone has an S1, and I know that it's supposedly the same as a J1, but the only J1 I've driven isn't nearly as short as mine. Plus my Japanese friend keeps yelling at me that eh J1 isn't as reliable and other ****... but I don't know if I should trust him... Oddly enough though, I love having it in that car. It's easily a tenth or two off 1/4 times if you're going NA. A turbo would fall on it's face though... no spool up times. But anyway, if I had my swap to do over again, I'd go with the LSD YS1, but my second choice would still be my kick *** S1. God I love rowing that thing around.

i have an s1 tranny, so there not THAT uncommon, thats 2 people in this thread alone, and at least 1 person in all my other post has one to , but anyway, yeah the s1 has some short *** gears, and it sucks rolling on the freeway, but it sure as hell makes up for it when you beat a friends b16 crx with a y1. or for some reason you can pull on other crx's with more mods then yours. i wouldnt give it up, i dont care if it does feel like its staraining the motor when i drive on the freeway(rarely anyway) i know its just my exauhst making me think that. 4k isnt all that bad with a quiet exh.

Just curious, as I've never experienced this tranny, is the gearing as short, or shorter than a TypeR tranny with 4.78 final drive?

Make that 4 people... both my brother (Mr. S) and I both have JDM S1 transmissions, so they're hardly what I'd call 'rare'. His is from a CRX SiR front halfcut, mine is from an Integra XSi. I also know a guy who has a J1 transmission - if he's on this board his name is Bluelight and he knows more than I ever will

The JDM S1 transmission is very nice & fun... cruising at 3800 rpm is fine. It actually helps the engine, IMO... if you're sparing with the throttle you can get incredible mileage (try 312 kms on 18.212L! That's 40+ mpg with the short 5th gear!). I've recently completed an LS 5th gear swap into my S1 and while it helps to cruise at 3k rather than 3.8k, it's actually not that great for mileage or highway pickup power. It'd be better in the States where you have higher speed limits - the B16A really needs to cruise around 3.5k on the highway IMO - but it's just too tall for me in Canada unless I speed . And remember that 1-4 are still short as heck, so by the time you're just normally driving in town and you need to shift from 4th to 5th, you can't unless you want to lug the engine.

Personally I love the S1 transmission now that I've customized it to my tastes It badly needs an LSD though!

I have a J1 in my hatch and I like the way it feels on the highway. I'm at 4K going 70 in 5th gear but the motor is hardly straining.

And as far as acceleration the insanely short gears definitely help the torqueless wonder.

I have a S1 in my b16a CRX and I love it. I recently drove from Chicago to Tucson, AZ with it and I cruised at 4k rpm's the whole way (~72mph). My gas mileage was pretty good. I got 30something mpg on average and that was with two bikes on the roof of my car. The S1 is a great tranny, the short gearing makes you forget that your b16a is lacking in the torque department.

couldnt have been the S1 then, not a chance. It's got identical gearing to the J1.

I had the y1 w/ lsd in my b16 crx for a while. It was great all motor but after I put the turbo kit on it I was shifting to 5th in the quarter mile. At 112 it was bouncing of the 8200 rev limiter in 4th gear.

its not a jdm s1 then its a usdm 90-91 s1, which is a ls tranny, all jdm trannies top out in third before 100 if u can do 110+ is most likely a ls trany (a1,s1 and ys1 usdm)

these trannies get confusing huh?

Are you guys exaggerating or what? 120 in 3rd gear? common now.... I've got the usdm ys1 tranny, which is i believe the longest ls tranny, and i top out at about 90+ mph in 3rd gear before my engine shuts off. you've got to rev to like 14 or 15k to hit 120mph in 3rd gear...
