The ultimate R powered track car?
Sold in the UK. Street legal there, not here. The new version with the civic type R engine powered up to 220hp is unreal. Price for the track only car is about 22,000 pounds. Who needs the road car in the USA anyway?

I don't know why but looks like Lotus decided to go with a 1.8l 190 HP Toyota engine (same as the Celica GTS) for the Elise that will hopefully come to the US as MY2005.

and for a car that is 40k.... its disapointing.
for a heavily tracked car i dont see the toyota motor surviving beatings like these b18c's do

"pounds" is the currency in the UK.... he's not talking about "pounds" (lb) as in "weight"

transmission issues for starters. the few i know who own celicas (new and old) complain about syncros crapping out on them after 50k miles of normal driving.
and have you seen the torque band for this motor? climbs like a b16/18 motor, with a huge drop between 3500-5000 rpms.
basically 40k for a great chasis, with a subpar motor imo.

Plus take in consideration...... This car takes turns like its on rails while your doing some three-wheel motion.
And like he said...... pounds the currency...
Actually if they import to the states it would be a great car to track.

You could always buy one and have it shipped here. As long as you don't run it on the streets, should be no problem. With its power to weight ratio, the car supposedly does 0-60 in 3.7 sec.

So they used a K20 motor huh? If it has an output of 220hp, it must be the K20A (DC5-R) motor, and not the K20A2 motor that the EP3-R's use in the UK. Nice track car either way.
