Please help!!! In desperate need of help on gaining maximum acceleration on start off
Hey whats up?
Well tonight I wanted to have alittle fun with a Civic SI at a stop light. When we started to go, I peeled out in almost every gear. I still beat him by a car length, but I know I could have completely wasted him if I didnt lose so much time chirping and all. So....my question is, which technique is the best to gain maximum acceleration? Powershifing? Or any other suggestions? I can do the double clutching on the downshifting, but a friend told me something similar to double clutching on upshifting. Say I'm in 2nd, and I disengage the clutch and rev the engine until 5-7 rpms. I then shift to 3rd and let go of the clutch? I tried it and didnt do much. Then I tried being in 2nd gear and just engaged the clutch, rev the engine to 5-7 rpms again, and let go of the clutch without shifting. That time I felt some torque, but I was peeling out. So if anyone has some tips to share about start offs, please post them. I know the "R" is alot more capable of how I can drive it.

eh?? DCing on an upshift? Someone's been watching too much Fast and the Furious?
Ok.....maybe not double clutching on the way up....but another way to power shift? To powershift is to engage the clutch and shift while the accelerator is down right? A friend on mine was just telling me something about leaving the clutch down, and reving the engine and then just letting go of the clutch. Or is this powershifting too but a diff technique? Maybe there's some sort of shifting in between? Or not? Recommendations? Comments?
Ive already looked through the archives, and found the article from vtec.net and also this link http://www.happytogether.com/318ti/n...ing/index.html
