I'm wondering if any of you guys here know why the "angled exhaust" came about in the first place. Like many other things, it's about maximizing race performance vs. the look of racing performance.
good point....what makes an angled exhaust soo much better than something straight out the back?? i always thought something straight gives more airflow. Does anyone thing that angled exhaust systems like apexi, jic, and others have a little more restriction or a little more power???
Well Apexi specifically designed there N1 catback for extreme efficiency with it's roots from the Japan N1 endurance race. And they say the angled provides maximum smooth flow.

i dont know if this is true anymore cause the new style n1 is over the lca and not slanted anymore

im actually wondering why some are angled myself.
is it to have one straight pipe with minimal bends as seen in zc911's car? im guessing this makes it necessary for the exhaust to be angled for clearance issues.
fill us in ... ?
