Dumb Questions About Doing The Si-r Front End Conv....
Ok well i am gonna go with a si-r front end conv on my 91 civic si hatch.... I had a few questions as far as the doing the conv...
1. Does everything bolt up in the resisting usdm mount locations?
2. Does the headlights/turn-signals all plug into the usdm sockets?
Those are my two main concerns... Like i said they are dumb questions but i aint to smart at the jdm converstions.... Sorry
...Thanks.....
Yes, it does bolt on. But remember that not all cars are in the exact same shape as when they left the factory. So, some things might not line up perfectly.
A round file is a good tool to have if you need to slot a hole to make things line up right.
About wiring the lights. The JDM headlights use a differnet light bulb, and only one per light. So you will need to rewire the headlights. i beieve the corner ligths only use one bulb, so you just end up with a bulb not used on the corner lights.
Do a search, the JDm front end convertion has been discussed here lots of times.
All the info you need is in old posts, go find it.

Wiring the lights is easy. Basicly the JDM headlights feature a single dual filament bulb, and the USDM has two single filament bulbs, on each side0. Each USDM bulb has a ground(Black) and a positive (Red + Green Stripe, Red + Yellow Stripe). The colors corospond directly to the JDM colors, except the JDM has only a single ground. You could either just use one ground, which should be fine, or do what I did and wire both USDM grounds together to the single JDM ground.
If you are using the JDM side markers you will have to extend one pair of the corner lamp bulb wires, and outfit it with a new plug terminal. It should come with your lights but if not, the licence plate light on our cars has the same plug.
Note: The cars I did this on were 90+91 Civic Hatch DXes. Colors might be different on other years, trim models, ect. Possibly.

Actually...
1. Fenders, hood, headlights, bumper, filler piece, all bolt up. BUT, the radiator support sometimes doesn't bolt up. I've seen some that bolt up and some that need to be 'spaced out' or bent out to fit with the hood. It depends on what model 90-91 EF you got the front it from. I believe the EF9 (B16A) are the supports that need modding, and the EF1 (D16A) are the ones that have the radiator support that would bolt onto the ED chasis.
2. Headlights, the 90-91 JDM EF headlights use one bulb whereas the USDM ED uses two bulbs. As long as your JDM ones come with the sockets and bulbs, then just color cordinate the wires with your USDM wiring. JDM corner ligths use one bulb, whereas the USDM uses two bulbs. Take your pick there. OEM in Japan is corner lights come on with parking lights, no signaling. The bumper lights are plug and play. And if you got the JDM sidemarkers, then of course you'll have to wire that up. OEM in Japan is just to blink.
