Default Stroked Engines...

Hey, I have a friend who is thinking about stroking his B16 to 1.8....Does anyone know of any problems with stroking the b16, besides not being able to rev to 8k...

He wants to run 12.1 c/r, and will probably get toda b's, with upgraded valvetrain (not sure on what parts yet tho)

Also any power numbers with a stroked b16?

for the b16- i would suggest a gsr or type r crank with matching rods(eagle or crower) and JE pistons. the pistons will be expensive because you will need to move the wrist pin to accomodate the rods. you can also get custom rods and run standard pistons but keeping gsr rods will help your power peak at higher rpm. it should rev well passed 9000rpm and pull the whole way. ive been in a civic hb with this setup with toda c's and he went 12.4 in his street car

dude you make it sound soo damn difficult. all you need to do is get a 1.8 crank, buy custom CORRECT length rods, and you can use stock pistons. OR get your 1.8 crank and use custom everything--rods and pistons..... using stock gsr rods wouldn't be any different as far as power ouput. that doesn't make any sense.....

i do agree that i would go with the gsr or type r crank for sure.

I think your wrong mister 10k. I have a friend that used to have this set up in his motor. First using a gsr rod and crank in a b16 motor is impossible trust me no matter wat piston you use it will hit the head and blow up upon start up. As far as gsr crank in a b16 block u would have to go with a b16 rod with a custom piston. I actually drove this guys car to a 12.31 at sacramento all motor it was built by AMR and we reved it to like 10.400 rpm it was on pump gas making incredible horse power but only on the top end did it make this power. And yes it we were on toda cams but toda C no i think not

You want a 1.8L? Buy an LS block. I mean **** you can pick up long blocks at junk yards for $500. You put a B18C crank in a B16 block you WILL need custom rods period. Why some people think GSR rods or B16 rods will work is beyond me. They won't.

okay. so with a b16 instead of "stroaking" it. u can just buy a b18 block? can u keep the stock pistons and rods? do u need new rods? or a new crank?

what all is needed when buying the new block

In general yes you can by a ls block for 500 but different people have differrent taste b16 rods will work with the 1.8 gsr crank ive done it ive ran it and it still runs the secret is for you to move the wrist pin up higher into the piston and thats about the only thing that is custom the Pistons
