Default I am now the proud owner...

Well after getting burned on a Type-R deal, I decided to save, oh $10,000 and buy myself a nice 95 GSR Sedan I just have a question for you guys with the sedans; how loud is it in the interior? I can hear a strange high-pitched whine (sounds like an oscillating fan) exactly at 3,000 RPMs, and then again at around 6,000. Anybody know what it could be?

I had an LS sedan, but it was pretty loud also. How did you save 10k? I can't manage to save 3k.

Cool. Yes, the interior is very noisy.. I think it's noisier than our 94 LS coupe.

maybe wheel bearings are making the noise? or just some noisy tires.

Hmm, I guess I should get it checked out. The mechanic didn't notice anything during the pre-inspection, so I guess it should be ok though.

vteg: The Type-R was around 20k, the sedan was going for 10k. Good savings, if you ask me

How high is the mileage. Is the squeeling coming from the front or the back, the left or right etc.

Congrats on your new car. I'm very happy with my sedan -- fun to drive, and very practical with the 4 doors. The only noises I hear in my interior are from the tires, wind, and my sometime whiney children!!! I have no idea what you could be hearing in yours...

nice choice on the sedan, and OBD 1 as well.
mine is too.... see my sig for link to my homepage with lotsa GSR sedan pix.

well, mine whistles too, but that is my AEM cold air intake.
it whistles at 3000 rpm most audibly, so maybe your has an intake leak or a modified stock section.. or does yours have a CAI already?

Nope, the engine is completely stock, with about 80k miles. I don't think its much to worry about, probably just a loose fan belt or something. The only strange thing about it is that the sound only comes for a few seconds at exactly 3,000 RPM and only at that time. It seems to be emanating from the engine bay, so I guess I'll just have it looked over by a mechanic one more time.

you sure it isn't the A-pipe rattle?

good reason to upgrade to a nice set of headers at least

The car was repainted so that the 98 front end would match the body.

[EDIT]Actually, now that I think about it, the Front End was probably painted to match the body I'll get a picture up so you guys can tell me later.[/EDIT]

Congrats on the purchase! GS-R sedans are a good combination of practicality and sportiness. I now hate 2 door cars.

It's not a high pitched whine, but almost all high mileage GS-R's will eventually get the A-pipe buzz at ~3500RPM. I got a DC Sports header to fix it. It didn't happen at 6000RPM though, so you may have something different.

Yes, the whole car is noisy especially at speed. The wind noise is insane. I attribute it to the car having frameless windows. Tire noise, road noise, wind noise, engine noise... it's all there....
