Red Line MT-90 Tranny Fluid (did search)
Anyone have experiences with this oil? I have a few new bottles here that I want to put in the R to ease the 3rd gear grinding pain...

Does the ITR tranny call for 75w90? Is it because of the LSD? Non-ITR trannies call for 10w30 viscosity lubricant, which would be Redline MTL. MT-90 in a tranny that needs 10w30 fluid would be bad.
you want redline mtl. mt-90 is too thick imo. From my experience mtl is just a tad better/smoother shifting than honda mtf. Ive heard good things about their shockproof stuff also.
A friend of mine insisted upon using Redline the last time he changed his fluid...so after I changed his fluid, he called me the next day wanting honda MTF. I drove the car to see what was wrong, and the shifter felt horrible with the redline, very very notchy, and was very uncomfortable to drive...15 minutes later and the car shifted fine...thanks to another change with honda MTF...
Thats my story.
EDIT: Forgot to add it was on a GSR.

eh, i heard mobil1 is great too but after using it...i'll never buy it again. It doesn't last to long and turns SUPER thin after like a month.
Redline...any car that i've drivin that uses it has nothing but improvments in shifting. My friends 2000 Si shifted smoother and more cooshie feeling after the change, but that was MT-90. MT-90 compared to MTL made the tranny more chooshie feeling when shifting. I dunno i like that feeling.

I tried a lot in my GSR for a while, we were running 75w-90....now dont forget, gear oil (gl rated) has a different viscosity rating than conventional oil so a 75-90 is equivlent to a 5w-30....the 75-90 ran ok, no complaints, then we switched to GM syncroshift, with a slight overfill (highly recomend) ie 2.3 quarts (*listed capacity) vs adding like 2.75...or something....that is great....almost no vibrations, no nothing, and gas mileage is negligable althogh I do think I had a bit of a decrease....
i recently switched to the GM stuff (friction modified) from honda mtf, overall the shifts have been smoother and when the winter comes, i'll see about it's cold temp usage (which I've been told would be much better than honda mtf).. this alone prompted my switch from honda mtf to gm syncromesh (honda mtf doesn't seem to like the cold).. also is it true that gm syncromesh == bg syncroshift?

No.
No.
This is a highly debatable topic. From my experience I have seen accelerated synchro wear from Redline gear oils. If you call Redline directly they will tell that it doesn't, and there are alot of people that swear by the stuff. I personally recommend the honda mtf for honda tranny's.
i think honda mtf will be adequate for the majority of people here. this of course excludes race cars and frequent *track *******
here's a sidenote:
a while back, i took my car into acura to get a transmission fluid change. they did not use honda mtf (not sure what brand they did use). since that time, my transmission would humm and make strange noises. i later took it to honda and put in honda mtf. no problems at all. noise and notchiness disappeared. since i track the car 1 or 2 times a year, i change the mtf after every event.
kepani-who will be heading to the track on sunday.

I'd be pissed.

I was at the local auto parts store and saw that Quaker State make a "Synchromesh Tranny Fluid".
Anyone every try this stuff?
Is it the same as GM "Synchromesh"?

probably....does it cross reference the gm and chrysler #'s on the bottle....I have been using the penzoil syncro shift stuff (made by the same company, and I would recomend it to anyone!)
