I'm about to purchase a ww/mugen style kit for my rex..and I wanna know the pros and cons of both material. I went to a shop down here today and they told me that urethane would be better, because it withstand pressure..and fiberglass cant..but he also said that if I get in a crash or whatever..then urethane is no good..because its not fixable like fiberglass..tell me what you guys think..
urethane is heavy, fiberglass isnt. and u need to paint urethane with a special mixture of paint so it will be flexible. i would go with the fiberglass.
All of my cars get driven quite hard.....I would go with a urethane kit over a fiberglass if I were to get one(never will though
) Id rather have a durable kit thats a little heavier than a cheap fiberglass kit that will rip off and fly into the woods when it scrapes. Just make sure you use adhesion promoter and a good flex-paint on the kit, so it wont chip an dcan handle a little flex. I suggest ALL PPG products.

The actual weight difference isnt much at all and if you are indeed putting on a kit you cant be too worried about weight or you wouldnt be putting it on in the first place.
I agree with him above me I would rather have a more flexable kit than the brittle easy to crack fiberglass. While yes fiberglass is easier to fix but whatever body shop you talked to dont really know what they are talking about cause if you get in a bad enough accident to mess up the urathane that for surely you would mess up the fiberglass beyond repair. I would go with urathane if you hit a bump you dont have to worry about ripping off your bumper atleast!@!

Get the urethane kit. Bump up against one little parking lot tire stopper or curb, and you'll be glad you went with the urethane. Fiberglass cracks very easily.

id go w/ urathane, my front bumper has many scratches on the bottom of it, if the kit were fiberglass, i would no longer have a front bumper
when I purchased my WW kit for my old 91 crx it took quite a bit of work to make it fit right. Forget fiberglass, it sucks to put on. After a year it had stress cracks near the wheel wells and I never hit anything with it. 2 weeks after I sold the car the kid who had it crashed it into some brush doing maybe 35 mph after he slid off the road and the kit shattered everywhere. You wouldnt even think of piecing it back together.
I bought a fiberglass front spoiler for a fiero gt back in 91 or 92. Lasted about 2 months. Just threw it out. You would think I learned my lesson
Bought a fiberglass front bumper for my civic. Got about 2 blocks from the shop when I craked it. Drove back and told them to take it off.
