Hard cold starting, please help!
Hi guys,
I'm hoping someone can help. My 86 Accord LXi is very hard to start when cold. It starts normally when the engine OR air temp is warm. Someone said it may be the IAC valve on the back of the throttle body, but my shop manual doesn't give me any OHM readings. Anyone know these? Thanks in advance, this is really frustrating....

Thanks, Nathan. However I replaced the cap/rotor/wires/plugs already. The car runs rough until the temp needle starts to move, then immediately runs normal. Since this only happens when the motor is cold and the atmospheric temp is about 50* or less, I think this must be related to some temp sensor. The good news is that this temp won't happen for a few weeks.

My 90 Accord manual suggests three possibilities ranked by probability; 1-Coolant Temperature sensor, 2- Other idle controls besides IAC( fast idle valve), 3- MAP, TDC/Crank/Cyl sensor, Atmospheric Pressure sensor.
Your's should be similar.
good luck

Thanks for the advice. I think the answer really is for me to get my mits on a real Honda shop manual. I think those "How to Keep Your Honda Alive" books would be good too. These Haynes things are for the birds.
