ATTN: Motorcycle guys
Hey guys,
I am thinking about buying my uncle's bike as a starter. Check out my thread in the bikes forum, I would appreciate any comments. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=60494

I'm sorry as this is way OT, but D, you crack me up on your replies to Ross' post! Short, and to the point

Ross, you may want to throw an "OT" in your title

D every time you reply to one of my posts, you have to tell me what you are referring to...am I retarded for thinking about that bike? Or it could be that you just think I'm retarded in general, which I know for a fact is true.
Hey Jason be nice...Big Beefcakes are no match for wiry martial artists!
Just kidding. yeah I saw the double-post and removed it. Doh! every time I do something dumb, I just say "see my sig". It was your boy Pat that gave me the idea.

I don't know about your area specifically, but here in MI the lead time on a (State accredited) course is an absolute BITCH. I bought a Yam R6 in 99 and went the route of not taking the school and doing the written and road tests on my own rather than through the schools where you are a lock to pass the road test, the written part just takes a little study.
Let me be specific; the road test is NOT a joke, I made the mistake of taking it lightly, I thought it was going to be like any other Sec'y o' State test - where if you can breath you pass, NOT!!!!!!!
I wound up failing (badly) on the first try; you only get 3, then you are packed off to the schools whose lead-time to get in is often over a year (I called each of them as a contingency plan). I went to the parking lot test site and practiced until I could no longer pull in the clutch. Nervous as hell, I barely passed the next day. Again, this is no joke, especially with a larger bike. The problem comes from the standardized turning circle test where everone tries to go too slow, doesn't develop enough lean angle and goes out-of-bounds. If you put your foot down or go out of bounds the test is done and you have used one of your 3 tries.
I say bag the bike your referencing, there are so many good deals on higher adrenaline units out there, IMHO. (R6 = 120hp, 15.5K rpm; or 200hp/Litre)
I've heard over and over again that statistics indicate that a significant minority of new bike owners get scared/tired/change their mind soon after buying it. Just take a look @ cycletrader to get an idea of how many extremely low mileage bikes are out their.
FlyLow (whether on 2 or 4)

Higher adrenaline might not be good...I dont want to kill myself before I know how to handle myself on that kind of bike. I'd like to tool around on something responsive but not dangerous until I can figure out how to handle a bigger beast.
Dood I got cited by a cop b/c I didn't have my motorcycle license. I had to get it before my court date. Since the safety classes were all booked up, I could not enroll in it's easy yet instructional course.
Well I practiced on the motorcycle testing course for many hours!! That was one of the biggest pain in the *** things I ever had to practice in my life.
I did it with a 2001 Suzuki GSX-R600. I can totally imagine how hard it was.
Do you know what my motivation was?
A fuckking GOLDWING almost did it perfectly before me. He got one point of for touching his feet on the ground. A FUCKKIN GOLDWING!! Can you imagine how bad the rider was throwing his bike around in the slalom and into the corners.
This guy was a total profession and I give mad props.
When it was my turn, I passed it with a perfect score! hehehe
