I remember when I lived down in Orlando 2 years back Discount tire told me to retorque the wheels once I hit 50 miles on the newly installed set. Has anyone ever heard of that before?
Did a search and no threads on this. Wondering if this is just a Discount Tire rule.

i usually retighten them after i drive for awhile or jsut whenever i remember, i like to check them all the time, just because my lugnuts like to come loose easily
If you have aftermarket wheels and if the wheel doesn't fit the hub the way it should (the center part of the wheel should fit tight on the ring of the hub), I would check the torque of the wheels soon after they were removed/installed and I would check them again whenever I thought about it (every oil change).
Alloy wheels will "seat" in the first 50-100 miles the re-torque is cheap insurance. It also helps to eleminate wheel shaking due to uneven clamp force too!
i always check them once in a while. I have the Mugen RNRs and the regular acorn lugs supposedly dont fit exactly. you are suppose to use the Mugen lugs for them.. but oh well
I recheck them and if they came loose I will check them after another 50miles or so but once they hold there torque I only check during other maintence.
And make sure you have the correct lugs to protect your life/investment. There are a couple types explained here
