Default Share My Sadness...

Well my connection to the internet has been down for a couple of days so I haven't really been able to grieve with you guys. Sunday night at roughly 1:00 am I hit a dear. I was going to fast and it had just started to rain. Anyway, in an effort to avoid the dear I swung to the left clipping the right of my front bumper, knocking off the front lip, and swinging the rear of the car of the side of the road. It came off a fairly steep embankment. Anyway, I need a new bumper, new radiator, front lip, etc, etc. The fenders need to be refinished, front and rear. I need new rear struts, etc, etc. It really sucks. My R will be out of comission for the next 10 days. By that time I will be in Austin at school. So I won't even be able to give it my inspection; I will have to rely on my dad. The estimate came to about $4500 in part and $4500 in labor. Luckily my comprehensive insurance (I don't have collision) covers things like dear. Althouh, I do have a $1000 deductible. And I really wanted to go to the Atlanta meet this weekend.

Sorry to hear it, but it sounds like a perfect candidate for a JDM front...

Matt - I'm really sorry about the disaster. I hope you're doing ok from the accident. I'm sure the car will be fixed like new before you know it. And, don't worry about ATL meet. We'll have one again soon and you can join us in the future.

FYI - hybrid_eg, here on h-t.com is selling his USDM front end (fenders, hood, front bumper, lights, radiator mount, read "A" badge + ect. for a mere $1000...) You should get in touch with him.... you could save some money over new parts and use it for something else. (i.e. new Volks or Spoonies or something. ) G'luck.

I talked to them about a JDM front conversion. And the problem is that I don't need a new hood, new front fenders, or new headlights. And the shop said what the insurance company would do would pay for the exact replacement parts and then I would have to pay the difference if I wanted more exspensive parts. Also, Cosworth, I appreciate the info, but no matter what I am going to have to pay a $1000 deductible; whether or not I can find the parts cheaper. The insurance check, in this case, goes directly to the shop.

nah, you can ask that they give it to you... $4500 in labor is a lot of money.... damn, why not just replace the mechanicals so you can drive it, have it sprayed later on... if LCA's are not bent, swapping out some suspension components is extremely easy.

exactly.. Cosworth thanks for looking out mang.. if he wants it he can have it all for 800 bucks for all i care.. the parts are in absolutely perfect condition!
He can make some major cash of this insurance deal.. plus its legal too.. afteall he is entitled to that money, insurance company has to respect your decision as to where and how you want your car fixed.. and they bastards have to pay

Yeah remember my PY was at $14,300. worth of damage before they even got under for an inspection. I had to push the Hell out of them to total it. But Alas all is good.

Good luck to you and at least just like me you are safe and ALIVE!

A.

PS I also hit a Deer at about 84 mph and careened off of a cement highwy barrier and did a 360 degree turn. Lucky for me and anyone else on the road thats all I hit. The Trooper asked me where the F*ckin Bovine went and went off into the woods after it with shotgun in hand. But, it got away even though it looked like it was hurt pretty badly.

Oh and BTW "F*ck ALL deer."

This last one was the 4th in my life that I've had the misfortune of bashing into. My only regret is that it wasn't KILLED. The last 3 died because I was driving large American Pig-Iron land yachts in my younger days.

The Deer in the southern NY region are a real road hazard and I support hunting them down and killing them indiscriminately!!!

Was it an old or younger deer? I would take the deer home and eat it if it's a younger one. The meat is more tender...
