i bought a TODA flywheel for my itr engined eg. AKH states that the TODA flywheel is 3.9lbs, which is 8.58 lbs. i weighed mine and it was 9 lbs. i know, i am nitpicking, but i bought the TODA flywheel because it was advertised as lighter than the JUN flywheel by almost half a pound. i haven't had the chance to weigh the JUN flywheel, but i will soon. why would they lie? oh, just in case you are wondering, i have load cell scales, and i am a certified ny state weighmaster, just so you don't think i did the bathroom scale thing.
anyone else have any comments?

Interesting, I assume the top pictures is a stock ITR flywheel? I thought they were about 18pds?

Hmm, do I smell a free flywheel!?! You should definitely take up the issue with TODA. You know they ain't got a chance for false advertisement. There is a stiff penalty for false advertisement in the U.S. Check it out at your local level.

yup. between its accuracy.....the flywheel not being centered on an inaccurate scale and what might appear to be the scale on carpet.....this has got to be a silly *** test. if you want to get at least a tick more accurate put the scale on a hard flat surface like a lenolium floor or something........try getting your body weight with someone standing next to you with the flywheel. stand on the scale record your number...and DON'T MOVE. have someone hand you the flywheel and record that number...do your subtraction. gotta be better then what you just did

lip, i weighed it on concrete too, but the carpet made for a better picture. same weight. and as i said earlier, my scales are state certified. if they were not right, i would not be able to use them. i buy various types of metal for recycling purposes.
but, i guess my $250,000 worth of scales must not be reliable......

what are the tolerances of the scale in the picture? as for getting anything out of AKH (Toda USA), LOL...good luck. I will call Alan for you Rodney, and see what I get. Surely weights will differ due to manufacturing, but should not by that much. I will repost what I find.

To clarify, he says it's NOT a bathroom scale. Read carefully! interesting find. My Volks, which i have seen LISTED (on various wheel weight sites) at 11.2 lbs. were actually 12.2 lbs, but that could be due to different offset from origional wheel tested, etc, and i wasn't about to bitch. But you might want to call them up and see what they have to say for themselved.
Rodney, you must really like the toda stuff!

How's it going?
I was up your way this past sun-tues, but I was working with my ceo, so no time to say hi.
drop me an email or im sometime and let me know how the eg is.

aleph, not to nitpick, but if you read carefully, you would've noticed that i said toda, not rodney.
sheesh . . . no need to argue about little details like this! we clearly have too much time on our hands . . .

I got it guy's When Toda and Volk manufactured the parts, they manipulated the earths gravitational pull therefore making the parts lighter.
Uh weight, I have been watching the Sci fi channel too much. SORRY

no, i never said i was unhappy with the flywheel,or toda at all (i have a spec b top end) it's just that i weigh things for living and i like to know the differences between the new parts that i buy and the old ones that i removed. the scale in the picture is not worth $250,000, but is one of the many scales that my company has to weigh material for purchase. that one is the one we use to weigh mercury. i do not expect anything from AHK or TODA, just am curious that the jun flywheel weight is listed as 4.1kg and the TODA flywheel weight is listed at 3.9kg, but weighs 9lbs. maybe they listed it lower just be be "lighter" than the JUN? got me, i will try to find a new JUN flywheel and weigh it. now i know what import review felt like..... black R, how are you? how did the wheels work out? you get any pics of them?
I'm serious...i'm just messing around in my responses. either way i'm happy with mine and i'm sure you will be to if you did purchase one
UPDATE. According to Alan at AKH, Toda just recently changed the weight of the flywheels to 4.1kg. He said he just received a memo on this, although the memo does not state the reason for the change. Of course, as a dealer, my first thought was "hey, how about letting us know these things..." He assured me the correspondence was fresh. Now, to find out why the change. Its not related to material or manufacturing. Any ideas anyone?

kengs, yes i got them. you are right it is huge! but we'll see, hopefully i can squeeze it in there. and, of course i will weigh it......
Did your flywheel box have any info in it? I bought a TODA flywheel back in March and it came with a sticker and an info sheet in Japanese. The only thing I could make out (I can't read Japanese) was 3.9kg. So maybe the newer ones are heavier and the old ones were 3.9kg.
