Quick question, do I primer my valve cover????
Hey, I'll be attempting to paint my valve cover tomorrow, and I bought Caliper paint that will be good for 900 degrees. I'm just wondering, I don't have high-temp primer, so should I be ok????
would normal automotive primer work???
I'll be painting tomorrow so I need as much advice as possible, thanks
BTW: I have already searched, which answered and helped me with most of my questions, but still have a few unanswered
thanks again

you should always primer anything before painting. primer helps the paint to adhere to it beter than if there were no primer. put like 2 coats of primer on and let it dry for at least an hour. then go ahead and paint it.
and for clear coat, it all depends on wat kind of finish you want. if u want a glossy finish then clear coat it, but it is best to clear coat either RIGHT after u finish painting, or a week after you paint it ( this allows the paint to air out properly)
BUT make sure the clear coat u use is the same kind of paint as the color paint u use. for example: Laquer paint w/ Laquer clear, or Enamel paint w/ Enamel clear
