Default J's racing CF Hood Opinions, Experiences

So I have been looking around for a CF hood to go with my PLANNED JDM Front Change over.

Well I came across this Hood and I was kinda liking it. I am not asking you all if I should get it or if it is ricey or not.
I wanted to get something that is Functional and Nice looking as well. I don't like the typical "MONSTER" CF hoods but this one seemed less dramatic but still provided the venting that I desire.
Carbon Fiber is an insulator and can withstand a great amount of heat.
My thoughts on this are that although a typical CF hood is lighter thus reducing the weight of the car it is alos holding the heat inside the engine compartment. As we know Heat rises and the air trapped under the hood is then HOT air and will effect the performance over all. Venting a the Heat from the Bay can drop temps in the engine bay Significantly especially when the Radiator Fan Kicks in.
Looks are important too but y main objective here is to find out what others think about vented hoods.
Pros and CONS welcomed

Quality is very good (i think they're made by First Molding).

Yasu's site (a-t-s-usa) has some info about how effective the vent is in lowering engine bay temps.

If you get a hood that has an opening your motor will get very dirty- If you care.

Other wise it seems like a decent idea

Okay I went to the site and I didn't see any mention of the J's Hood. Although the CF process for ATS was explained pretty well.

I've always wondered about that too. Maybe Ed can chime in, while he doesn't have the J's hood he has a similarly vented hood.

J's Racing products are high quality

I think there was somebody who had a FRP J's hood awhile back.

Vented hoods are good for reducing engine bay temperatures up to 30%, especially under track conditions. You will feel the heat escaping from the vent, and on a hot day, you can sometimes see the air shimmering around the vent.

Another option to consider is the Buddy Club hood, which has a less aggressive looking vent.

Looks like this:

What I do if rain is a possibility, is to use electrical tape and cover up the vent so that rain cannot get in.

The Buddy Club Hood is Nice as well. How much is it BTW?

Someone Mentioned a Fiber Image Hood? How much is that and How does the quality Compare (Meaning More in the Fitment department) I have seen the Video of the Car ******* the Hood at FI.

My choices are the J's Hood or a Spoon Hood. J's is a bit cheaper than the Spoon hood and provides the Venting.
I like the Smaller Vents cuse I think they minimize the water that may get in there. Although I don't think water will hurt the Exhaust mani

My hood has a vent similar to the BC hood. I've drivin in the rain with it for about a year now with no ill effects. When your moving no water goes down there, and when some does it just drips on the header. No big deal IMO.

Not a big deal unless you are worried about water marks on the header. LOL

Didn't think it was anything to worry about. I know some people with those HUGE scoops and Vents and I know they don't have a Spare hood Lying around and it rains alot on the east coast.

I like the c-west/buddy club hood a lot better than the j's. The j's is just too agressive for me.

i wonder how people with hood scoops stock deal with rain, or if they even need to deal at all... if they don't need to deal with it, why don't all cars have vents?

Anyone have the Fiberimages copy of these hoods? I have seen Oem Fiberimage hoods and they are probably one of the best quality hoods, they are super light compared to Vis.

the J's v2 hood as shown in the first pic is pretty good, we've had a few guys that gotten it and are quite happy with it!! although i'd hate to be caught in the rain with it, but those guys use it only on the track so that never comes into play for them and yea for the price you can't beat it
