Best Carbon Fiber Hood?
ive heard nothing but good stuff about vis and fiber images... no REAL experience with either though... and for bodykits nw, havent heard much about it so i couldnt say... but i hear that vis makes real good products and a lot of people are fiber images fans... i guess thats all i can say.. sorry. but good luck
a local performance shop i know, has gotten 5 vis hoods and other manafacturers such as tc sportline. and he informed me that he was happy with the result he was getting wit the vis hood. but i also hear of people that couldnt be happier, so i guess it is really a matter of the batch u get or how it is shipped. but me i would go with either fiber images or tc sportline

I honestly can say for a fact that the fit/weave/quality/customer-service of bknw is above par. this is the only hood company that I would consider buying from.

If Jesus called me and said he needed the best cf hood I would be telling him about Andy @ bknw.

Thanks for the kind words Sean. Glad to see a customer of mine post. I wish I had some sort of BAT signal when it comes to post like this because I know I have a lot of customers out there lol.

They have good service for real, after picking up my hood Andy personally called me and asked me how it was and if I have any problems give him a call. Thanks again Andy.

Bodykits NorthWest. Only place I would buy my hoods from too. Very pleased with my hood and everyone else who has one seems to be pleased. They make them so they only ship the best to their customers.

There are a few disgruntled people in this thread:

And here's my story...
Yup I, too, have had some issues with BodyKitsNW. I hate to say it, though, because Andy has been *mostly* cool to me, and gave me some good pricing too. The packaging and weave were both good. Here's the full story:
Ordered two 99-00 Si cf hoods from him at a deal price, one for me and one for NateVtec. We installed mine, and it fit like ****. The whole driver side was bulged up way too high. Took it off and put it on about 10 times, did all sorts of tricks trying to figure out what was wrong, couldn't find anything. Meanwhile, the threads in the hood stripped ultra easily, so I bought a re-thread kit for it. That didn't work too well. Somebody at the BKNW number told me to dremel the hood and put a washer and nut inside the hood frame. So then I bought a damn dremel. Don't forget, the hood still doesn't fit.
We installed Nate's hood and it fit perfect right off the bat.
So I talked to Andy and he insisted the hoods were test-fitted and that there's nothing wrong with them, but reluctantly had my hood shipped back to him, and shipped me another one. He said he didn't have time to check out the bum hood I sent back, and was just going to trash it ( weird? ).
New hood finally arrives ( 99-00's were back-ordered a bit ) and I attempt to put it on. Guess what? BULGES AGAIN.
So now I'm like WTF. Can't be my car, cause it's never been in an accident, it's in mint condition, and the STOCK hood fits perfect. Here's an idea, let's put NATE'S cf hood on my car and see what happens...

Couple things that pissed me off: I didn't have the hood for the Carlisle show, which kept me out of the jdm class. I have only this Civic, so I have no way to transport my ill-fitting hood, even if someone DID want it. And I am now stuck with a hood that doesn't fit, so sits in a corner as a $400 eyesore.
My honest opinion: There are consistency issues with BKNW products. Some differences are to be expected with a small DIY company, but COME ON.
If anyone has a tip on where to get a Fiber Images hood at a decent price, lemme know.

I have only had a Fiber Images CF hood, so I can only speak about their products. The hood for my sol fits like a glove. There are no gapping issues, and is considerably lighter than my stock hood.
Cons: The hood comes glazed, but not clear coated, so it doesn't have the shinny 3-D
effect of the cf. Another con is the $575 price I bought mine for. Pretty expensive for a hood...
The hood is great, and I recommend them to anyone who wants a well fitting cf hood.
I have heard some bad things about their hoods, but for the most part, they all seem to fit up nicely.
