i have an 89 civic and whenever i am braking or hit a hard bump, the front drivers suspension makes a clunking/popping noise. there is alot of play in the steering, and it's also very stiff turning-wise. the wheel also seems to have a bit more camber on that side.
any ideas on what it could be?

 

did you change the suspension on the car?
if you did it sounds like somthing didnt get put back on
the bushing, spacer, or nut missing on top of the strut tower would be a start

I doubt that.......Most likely it is a blown shock, or worn bushing/balljoints. My hatch made all sorts of noises until I finally replaced all the wear components.

 

your drivers side radius rod could be loose or damaged...check that first, then the suspension

 

oh, when i pushed down on the car, it makes a clunking sound.
