Question about loose Valvetrain
If the valvetrain would be loose i.e. valve springs or would need a valve adjustment, would it make a noticable "loose" noise at all rpm or at a certain rpm? Im getting a "loose" noise at about 2.1-2.2k rpm and not sure what the hell it is. At times it sounds like it could be from the tranny area, loose heatshield, or even worse from the head.
I took my car to a local shop and they said its my valvetrain that needs replacement with new springs and retainers. But if it was the valvetrain then why only does it sound at a certain rpm? Shouldn't it be noticable at all rpm?

What motor is it? Me and my friend just put new lost motion assemblies in his b16a. It made scary loud noises from the valvetrain. Now all that is heard is the normal lash rattle.
The lost motion assemblies keep the vtec rocker arm from rattling around when not in use. They made a very loose noise in the top end that was pretty disturbing. We got JDM interga type r ones on ebay for $185 shipped.
