Brake fluid low.. what to use to re-fill?
My brake fluid is low (has been since I bought the car a year and a half ago) and recently my e-brake light started randomly staying on and stuff.. especially during acceleration. I searched and come to the conclusion I need more brake fluid.. but like I said have no idea what type is in it right now. Does it matter what type I put in? Can I just buy a bottle of DOT3 or whatever and pour it in or is this process going to involve bleeding and stuff.
since you never bleed your brakes since you owned it and dont know what the previous owner did i would just bleed the brakes and put some dot 3or 4 in there.
damnit haha, I was hoping someone wouldnt suggest that. Maybe its time for me to just do it.. I've always been kinda hesitant to touch the brakes just because of what I could possibly **** up.
I'll search in a second.. but can u give me a hint on the difference between the different DOT types of fluid?

you shouldn't be losing brake fluid, you better check up on it for leaks
here's a good website for brake fluid info http://www.vtr.org/maintain/brake-fluids.html

Theres no point in mixing DOT 3 and 4, in fact im nto even sure if you can, read the bottle. ITs worth the while to rent or make a flush system, clean the brake sysytem right out, and just go to DOT 4.

Triumphs are small British Roadsters.
I believe you can mix Dot 3 and 4 but not 5 because 5 is silicone based.
I don't believe Hondas have any rubber seals for the lines, I think its just a concave double flared pipe with a fitting that screws right into threaded hole with a convex shaped pipe inside it. So any leaks would come from a loose connection or broke rubber hose.
Bleeding brakes is not hard, I have a how-to for it...

This is what I just did when I had to change my M/C.
*EDIT* But sicne you never really did get an answer for your question just use DOT 3 to fill it back up with. Of course check for a leak and such but its better for it to be full than to be running low even if you do have a leak keep it full if your still driving it.
