Tried and true seems to be pick any two:

Koni Yellow's
Tokico Illumina's
Tokico Blue's

and

Ground Control Coilovers
Neuspeed Race Springs
Sprint Springs
Eiback Pro Kit

Some people on this board will swear by Koni's, I think. I love my Tokico's personally.

Koni Yellows are really nice, but a little expensive.
the Illumina's are also nice, those would be my second choice.

and springs are pretty cheap. they cost anywhere from $125 - $200 for all 4.

i like the way springs ride compared to sleeve type coilovers.

Progress, H&R, Neuspeed, Eibach... they're all good.

i have Progress on my EG with Tokico Blues... it rides great.

For a little more you can always go with GC coilovers at around $295 for all four. That way you get a quality adjustable perch and Eibach ERS springs in any rate/length that you want. I would go with Konis if you can afford them they are well worth the money.

Check Neuspeeds website. They have a club kit for the EF that is around $600 (Race Springs and Koni Yellows).

if you want at least a lil comfort..dont go with sleves coilovers ie Ground Control or Skunk 2. Go with some H&R springs (race or sport your choice) and some Koni yellows or Tokiko Illumnas work great. Blues cant handle much as well as KYB AGX's

I would definately recommend a camber kit if you are going to be lower than 2".

I use Eibach Sportlines, and I love 'em. Also went with Tokico Blues.

Good stuff.

who is that in your advatar... drool...

sorry i got off topic.
For a cheap good ride you can't beat GC and Koni. Personally I would not get GC/koni setup becuse just a tad more you can get some real coil overs.

Eibach Pro-Kit/Tokico Blue's. 1.2" drop up front, 1.0" in the rear. MIght not be as much as you're looking for, but it suits my tastes

if your going with a 2" drop go with Bilsteins. These and the koni yellows are the only struts i'd get for that kind of a drop.

I've got neuspeed race and the bilsteins. Great combo

Tokico Illumina's with Eibach Pro-Kit is what i'm running at the moment. I love the setup way more than my old KYB GR-2's with ebay coilovers.

I wouldn't...if you lower it, the shocks will go from old to worn out and not useable...and then you will have to buy new shocks.

it probably wouldn't feel too bad at first... maybe a little bouncy.
but after a little while they'll be shot, and you'll need new ones.

i've ridden in cars like this before and it gets annoying real quick. no matter how smooth the road is, you're constantly bouncing. and people laugh at you.

i'd hold out until you can get some performance shocks. i have a 2" drop with Tokico Blues and they've lasted me 40k miles already + i auto-x sometimes.
Tokico Blues are pretty cheap, too.

ok, let me clear things up first..

to lower a car i will need:
-springs
-shocks
-camber kit

but then what are coilovers for? (ex. GC Coilovers)
are they a replacement for the combo of spring/shocks??

also what are dampers?

sorry i have lots of questions

i know a place they want 250 exactly....and when you lower your car you still need struts no matter what unless you wanna be a have FAKE hydros ....now the thing is Springs...to my me i think is better....i have COILOVERS on my Prelude and springs on my EF ...prelude rides shtty , Civic Rides great....GC Coilovers gives you a choice to lower and raise your car in like 10 minutes.....so you can either go LOW or go HIGH....With springs you dont have that choice but you ride better.....and when you have coilovers it can mess up camber b/c your CAMBER is already set ( to where its not suppost to eat inside of your tires) raising your car and LOWERINg can set the camber off....DONT quote me on this but can ne 1 back it up?...so your better off with springs....cause it stays set at one height.........FOR some reason after MONTHS of DRIVING my car starts to lower it SELF......lol i gotta raise it back to the height i want it at..sorry to steal the thread but yeah does n e 1 have this problem? by the way they ARE JUNK2's

I did it, mine were newer, but definatly worn. I used Suspension Tech springs (hooked up y someone on here for $50 ) and the ride is actually good. I drive alot of gravel roads and it is low and stiff, but not bouncy.

suspension tech springs
