Default Question for those with GC/Koni

As some of you know I just installed the gc/koni combo with 450 front spring and 425 rear springs. The Konis are APS (Nuespeed) shorter shaft by 20mm. My question regards the rear springs.
-At the softest dampening setting is you rear really springie/bouncy? i.e. you push down on the trunk and its not as stiff as the front when the fronst are on full soft.
-Also did any of you guys with GC/Koni (any koni off the shelf or what not) have significant problems with the springs rubbing against the the thread sleeves? Both front and rear? I had the rubbing in the front so I cut the top of the sleeve by about 1" and cured the problem. The rear springs are also rubbing So I'm going to cut an 1" off the top too. So did anyone else have this problem.

The rubbing issue has been documented by NTPOG. At this link.

Hey man...
I have off the shelf yellows. My GC are 350 rear and 400 front. When I loosen them all the way they are still pretty equal in bounciness if thats a word...let me go check real quick... Yea they feel pretty equal...the rear may be a little more bouncy, but not by much. I had no prob with GC my springs rubbing on the threaded collar.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by RAB &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">-At the softest dampening setting is you rear really springie/bouncy? i.e. you push down on the trunk and its not as stiff as the front when the fronst are on full soft.[/url]</TD></TR></TABLE>

What you describe makes sense to me. You have pretty high springrates in the rear. When you set the Konis to the lowest rebound setting, they do not have a high enough rebound rate at that setting to dampen the motion of the spring. The same thing is going on in the front too, but all the extra weight in front helps dampen the springs movement too. In the front, gravity is helping the shocks to dampen the motion. At the rear, there is considerably less weight to assist the shock in stopping the ocillations of the springs.

I have 425f, 425r GCs over Konis for what it's worth.

I have to keep my Koni's stiffer in the rear control the spring. I keep mine at least half stiff, usually more ---&gt; I run a tiny bit from full stiff when autocrossing.

Thank you my reliable/knowledgable fellow GC/Koni buddies. I got everything figured out today, i.e. re did the rear suspension i.e. cleaned up my sloppy work. I love the handling of the car now. Absolutely no complaints.
