How often does the oil pump go bad? VTEC related
I hate my car right now. I finally fixed my idle problem with the cap and rotor, at least seemed to fix it today.
Now the main problem is my VTEC. Up until recently, when VTEC kicked in I felt a strong pull. Now all I hear is a loud sound and no pull. Only time I feel a little pull is in 1st gear. Second and third dont feel anything, just hear a loud sound. I checked the oil level, its full. Havent checked the oil pressure because I dont have any tools.
First, how do you narrow this problem down? Could it be the oil pump? VTEC just seems like it gets louder and doesnt have the juice to get to redline.
Setup: 1996 accord, 98 jdm h22a, intake, exhaust, UR pullies, vafc untuned. Recently installed: AN-R header, action clutch, fidanza flywheel, walbro 255lph pump, b@m fpr and guage (turned all the way down as far as it goes....42psi).
It may just be me, but it seems like VTEC is a LITTLE bit better right when I reset my ecu, but goes back to crap after a few minutes of driving. I dont know where to start with this.

Hmm, it doesn't sound like a main problem. Just sounds like you need some tuning. I would have it tuned or tune the thing, and I'm sure power will come up.
You don't have any codes do you?

Nope, no codes. I almost wish there were codes so that I know whats the problem. Could it be the VTEC solenoid? It really bothers me because I have lost a second from this VTEC problem.
