want to start a little autocross? what do i need?
im thinking i would like to start doing a little autocross cause it looks fun and isnt as dangerous as being at track going 100mph in the 1/4 mile..
what do i need to really go out and get started?? my current setup is
1994 Civic SI Hatch
Motor-
B18c1 swap w/ Skunk2 IM, AEM CAI,
DC header, N1 catback, vafc and zex for the 1/4 mile
best run was a 14.1 @ 99 miles (i think cant find the slip) i know it can do better with traction, i was spinning 1-3rd gear
Suspension-
skunk2 coilovers with tokico illumina 5 way adj shocks
jdm itr rear sway bar with beaks kit
front strut bar
16" Rota c8 wheels
I do plan on adding a rear lower tie bar and rear strut bar soon..
so thats basically what i got? what else do i need? where can i practice? what else is needed?

Don't worry about what your car has, no matter what you are driving you will probably get obliterated at your first event. Especially with a modified car. Don't worry about your car, just make sure it is safe (suspension all tight, battery secure, nothing loose in car) and watch and learn at your first event. Unfortunatley, because of your mods, you will get grouped into a class of cars that are a lot more modified, and modified specifically for autoxing. Don't get discouraged by how bad you get beat the first event, especially by cars that are "stock"
In other words, you don't really NEED anything except maybe a helmet, although many clubs will rent them at the event. Just show up and have fun.

Just go out and try it once. Find a local club, attend one of the events, and see what you think of it. Don't expect to slaughter the competition, it's your first time. Learn your car before you start to modify it any more. And don't go out there thinking you are gonna set a record, you'll just ruin the car!

http://www.scca.org Go to Solo2, then Regional, then Regional/ Divisional Sites and find the region closest to you. They all have websites.
thanks for the advice.. anything else?? i know i will not be able to go out there and be the best cause ive never done it.. i dont expect that but i do want a car that will be ready to handle and do what it needs to do on the track to get through it. looks like a lot of stuff goes on at summit point WV thats only 40 min from me, maybe i can go watch an event first..
http://www.autocrossers.org for DC region events. Summit point hosts DE's on their tracks, so they're not autocrosses.
Watch http://www.nasaracing.net for upcoming autocross events in richmond this winter. No schedule quite yet...
Show up and ask for lots of help

Don't bother going just to watch!
Get up those extra couple of hours early and participate. You'll be sorry you're "just watching". First event I ever watched, I wanted to be driving!
Feel free to email the organizers of which ever club you decide to run with - most of "us" are really helpful when contacted directly.
Go with an open mind and you'll have a blast. Get a ride with a really good driver if you can. Like others have said, pack like you're going to be out in the sun all day (hat, water, sunscreen, umbrella just in case) and make sure the car is tip-top, and all will be well.
