Default Problem with 98 accord

my friend changed the oxygen sensor with a new stock one, and now the car makes like a sudden jump plunging forward on the highway every 5 minutes or so. Does the O2 sensor need to be reprogrammed?

Is your car still under warranty? If so, just take it to the regular shop/dealer, and have them look at it. Does the car sound louder by any means? I doubt that the new o2 sensor has anything to do with it. Something might have been affected during installation, etc.

what exactly do you mean? The car speeds up on its own?

the O2 sensor does not need to be reprogrammed since they are not programmable. you can reset the ECU if you want by pulling the #13 fuse in the passenger side fuse box for 10 seconds or more. I'm 99.9999999999% sure that isn't the problem though.

My guess is that he means there isn't smooth shifting involved (maybe he has an auto).
