Default b-series swap and keeping a/c

When you do a b16 or b18 swap in an EK, how do you keep the a/c?

There you go. Glad you said it before i did. I bought the p54 bracket from honda. Which is the delsol vtec. The B20 compressor should work. I know 2 poeple that have used it, But it's possible the compressor may be different.

Would a 99-00 bracket work for a B18 in a Ek??

if you need the del sol braket, call Import Auto Salvage...they always have some new ones in stock...and maybe even a used one or two.

Nope. Not with SOHC A/c compressor. I still have 50 bucks i wasted on that. 99 si's take nippon denso compressors.

here's what i dont understand.

If I have a B18c in my EG coupe and the compressor is already mounted to the block (via existing AC bracket) why would I need a P54 bracket?

wouldnt my pump be already lined up with the pulleys? or is there some kind of clearance issue im not seeing?

Turbo E, what i did, cause im lazy, i used the stock civic a/c bracket and compressor and bolted it to my B18C. the only problem is you can only use 2 of the four bolts to hold it on (the one's closest to the T-belt)

you can use your bracket but not all 4 bolts will bolt up. For some reason only the p54 bracket can be used.

Depends on if you want the chrome bling bling one or the ULTRA light aluminum bling bling one. Call IAS.

My swap came with an AC bracket... but I had no AC in the first place, so I have a dead backet chillin in my car.

I did the same thing untill one day i was driving and i got on it hard and the whole belt popped off becuase of the stress. Broke the 2 bolts on the ac bracket. A p54 shouldn't be no more than 90 bucks. go to H-parts.com

I used run b16 and b20vtec and now b18c1. The p54 ac bracket fits for all 3 different size motor. Therefore, just get the p54 ac bracket if you want to run ac in your car.

i'm getting ready to do a b18c into 94 hatch soon and planning on keeping the ac. could i just use the compressor and bracket that came with the b18c? is there any clearance issue with using the stock b18c braket and compressor with all the stock EG hoses.

wait a minute, you're saying the OEM bracket holding the OEM pump will break????
I dont mind forking out the money for a p54, but....

WHY WONT THE ORIGINAL PUMP BRACKET WORK????

show me a picture or something???? this is absolutely confounding. why cant i understand this?

When putting a b series motor in a car that came with a d series motor you need a p54 bracket.
The del sol vtec is the only car that technically came with a b series motor and a d series ac compressor.
If you use say a 99-00 si bracket, it will mount to the block buy only 1 or 2 bolts will mount to the compressor
if you use a d series bracker it will mount the the compressor and not the block of course
Also if your thinking, why not use a b series ac compressor?
Because the ac lines in your car that came witha d series will not work with the b series compressor.
So the only solution is the del sol bracket and it is rumored some b20 brackets work, but thats not a for sure thing, so unl;ess u got one layin around i wouldnt go through the hassle of buyin one.
Thanks you, come again.
