Brake Noise
I've been having a problem with my brakes that doesn't seem to affect performance at all. First it is a '94 GSR with 95K miles. On the front brakes if I am rolling backwards and apply the brakes I hear a "click" or "tap". If I do it a second time it doesn't make any noise. Then if I move forward after having rolled backwards, the 1st time I apply the brakes I hear the same noise again. After that I don't hear it again (until I apply them when the car rolls backwards). It sounds to me like the pads are shifting in the calipers. Anyone have any ideas? Is this a common problem? I have changed the pads at 50K myself.
P.S. My wife's '94 Accord had the same problem on the rears before we sold it.

No, it pretty much happens all the time. I don't think it has anything to do with flash rusting of the rotors. It sounds like the pads shiftina inside the calipers. When I replaced the pads at 50K I didn't replace the retainer spring (correct name?). Don't know if that matters.
Flash rusting is very normal on brake rotors. I see it happen when it is parked and it rains or after I wash it. You can see the rust on the rotor surface. Doen't seem to cuse a problem. As soon as you apply the brakes it is generally gone. You may hear a slight grinding noise the first stop or 2 though.
By the way, I noticed that the "shifting" problem seems to be noticeable when the brakes are cold. Glad it isn't a problem. Thanks for the feedback Chris / Teken.
