it's not illegal to have the sidemarkers. it is illegal to have them ON as a marker as at least in CA only the front should be lit. The proper Euro/JDM way is they are only 'on' when the turn signals are used. Now if you guys want to be true JDM/Eurospec wire the turn signals so that when you're parked at night on a narrow street you merely hit the turn signal lever to the left and it will illuminate the lft rear/side/front city light so that cars don't side swipe you.

But that's if you're really **** bout getting it done right

don't know about it being illegal, but as far as the way...the EK9 sidemarkers only came on when the blinker is on. i think that's what he means by "the way"!!

i promise it blinks JDM/Eurospec is the same they blink only and while you're at it make your corner only blink as well. Only city light is ON w/ the Parking light. and if you want to be technically correct the city light should turn off when you turn on your main beam...that's achieved through a relay

if there are three wires then one is ground, the other is constant on, and the other is blinking. so basically if you wire it correctly (all wires connected) then it will stay on with your parking lights, and blink opposite to your regular turn signals. so its kinda like this

front side rear
Blink On Blink

Front Side Rear
off Blink Off

well, i just did my brothers EK sidemarker. it stays on when the light is on and blink when it signals. Doesn't really blink, it just dies out then comes back on.
We like it like that so like that it is..... Green wire on top Black wire on bottom of sidemarker. Greens goes to green...... Black goes to RED. So again it stays on when lights are on, and blinks off and on when signal.....
