Hi. I'm Dennis... I've lurked around here before, but reciently I decided to register and start posting... It seems like no other board can compare to this one in terms of ITR traffic...

I have a 2000 PY ITR, 33,000 miles, no mods.

nsxtasy, i assume Route 66? I was there about 3 weeks ago.. I think the best i got was a 15.134... First time out, not too bad.. After I get new rubber, I'm gonna go out again.. I've gotten some better advice on launching.

You ever go road racing, like at Gingerman? I went with some guys that rented the entire track.. There were under 20 of us, and it cost about $180 ish each. I've been looking for some people to see if they want to rent it out and do this..

How often are the chicago h-t meets?

There's a handful of chicago H-T members who go to gingerman quite often. In fact, 5-6 of us are going to Omaha for an event on September 7th.

Where abouts do you live? I used to see a PY R on I-94 around Old Orchard each morning, and lately I have been seeing two different PY's on Rt 41 between Highland Park and Lake Forest.

Chris - who sees lost of R's around, most of which he can't identify....

heh, last time *I* saw another ITR was at the Expo... and I ain't kidding.

 

I've seen a few near old orchard, but thats just because my cousin lives up there. I live by Wheaton, around route 53 and butterfield... I've seen a few R's around here.

Yea, I dunno, I'm using geocities to host that pic, and it likes to show up every so often when it wants to.

Wheres Omaha? I'm not quite up to date on the tracks in this area...

Do you guys ever go to any SCCA Auto-x's?

Omaha, Nebraska. Rather far, about 475 miles from Chicago. I forget the name of the track - an H-T member put together an event out there.

Lots of autox'ers on here too (from the area).... When I go (which isn't often), I go up to Milwaukee since Joliet is much farther.

I agree, the drive through Iowa is exciting. I drove to Iowa city last sunday, and back to chicago on monday. BORING....

Arg, I hate this trial user thingie, I'll type up a reply only to realize I can't post yet!

Man, I would love to go, except, like Ebboy said, if i had $$.. Which I don't... I need new tires and pads.. Although, a nice track day will kill them off! Plus my rotors are warped. I have a set of brembo blanks, new potenzas, and a set of axxis ultimates on the way too.

Bbasso-, my car is always in the garage. This theft problem is pretty annoying.. I wish we could buy those parking boots cities use.

I just rehosted the pic on AOL, it should work now.

And thanks everyone for saying hi, the people on this board seem pretty cool.

But hey, with that track thing, I'd love to do as many road courses as I can, except school starts back up for me, and I'll be in Columbus, OH for the next 9 months. But once I'm back in Chicago, I'd gladly go with you guys.

That's correct. You're much better at "second guessing".

CGI Motorsports has about 10-12 one-day events there each year, all on Mondays, and they have three more events this year. They cost $150 and you get seven (!) twenty-minute sessions on the track in a single day. They have in-car instructors and classroom sessions for the inexperienced students. Today I was told that at least one of the instructors is very good.

We've had two so far this year. I think we had two last year, before Chris 1 went to Arizona, and now Chris 2 is helping get the word out.

I love trying out new road courses. I'm up to 20. You might want to join a group that does HPDE events at a lot of different tracks, like NASA or BMW CCA or SpeedTrialUSA. All run good programs at a variety of tracks.
