Hi guys,

I feels like the engine is not very happy recently, and doesn't rev as freely as before.... can you tell me how do i know if i need an engine rebuild ? What kind of test I need to run to determine that?

I believe excessive oil consumption is a good sign

not sure of the exact quantity of oil consumed tho....maybe 1quart/litre every 2000miles/3000km???

 

whats done to the car and how many miles? do compression test, then leakdown.. make sure its not igniton components or other minor wear items (air filter) making it seem like you got something wrong with your engine.. any coolant/excessive oil loss? also.. do you get regular maintanace done (fluid change/valve adjustement)

 

I bought it 2nd hand. The car now has 55000km on it, i bought it when it was a little over 50000km. Since then, I have change the tires, change oil to Speed Master (mobile 1 gone down very fast), changed all 4 spark plugs, and also transmission oil. I have not done any dyno test yet....

Please help me with more advise.

You have already been given some good advice. Compression and leakdown test will give you a huge idea on what is going on inside the engine.
