Default B18C1 Dual-Stage IM

as you guys already know, B16's and B18C5 comes with single-stage IM.
my question is, why did honda opt for dual instead of single on B18c1's??
what are pros and cons of having dual on B18c1 instead of single IM??

pro: better low end
con: hinders high end.

ITR, acura tried to make it as quick as possible, so they make a single runner intake manifold. That results in a quicker car.. but might not have as much torque as a gsr in the low end. (but i think it does.. because of the higher compression)

Honda spent alot of money on the 2 stage im for a reason, efintcey the im on the b18c1 is the best for the STOCK moder. when you start doing things like cams, porting and polishing....etc. you change the needs of the moder so the 2 stage intake does not function properly. ie a loss in power but if the moder is stock you will be extremely hard pressed to find one the will meat or beat Honda's intake manifold

ERICKS racing's gsr manifold is completely bored and had the secondaries removed. So its technically a single butterfly design. But he will not release his secrets.

The GS-R IM was designed that way to maintain a broad and flat(ter than the ITR) torque curve. It's powerband is in the midrange compared to an ITR/B16.

STFU..... what a bold and unspecifyed statement... please post more intellgent remarks.

Ericks manifold is completely revamped and bored out to his specs. He must have done a lot of flow reasearch & development to that manifold. So basically he's only using the "shell" of that IM, inside is completely non-stock.

it was done for more midrange and a flatter torque curve as the others were saying, if you look at a dyno of a B18C1 and B18C5 overlayed together, the B18C1 makes more HP and torque than the B18C5 from 3k-6.5k, after that the B18C1 slopes down in power as the B18C5 literally spikes up.
