Default HF Owners Question

The black box that's on the firewall next to the main fuse relay. What is it? I think that it is part of the EGR and Evaprative Emissions system. Is that right?

Also, there are 2 vaccum lines coming out the back of the manifold that goes to the box. I unhooked those and looped them (the nipples coming out of hte manifold) together, will this cause any unwanted performance?

Yea that is correct. The map sensor also lives in there too! If your HF is stock, prob best to leave it alone. You might have disconnected your map vacuum scource. If you have swapped, remove the box and replace with map and purge from Si, you won't need the EGR. I swapped in a B18b which has the map on the throttlebody and the purge on the manifold. I only had to toss the box and lengthen the wires.

Sorry, I didn't respond, I was really busy yesterday.

yeah, all stock HF. I guess I'll hook everything back up the way it was then. I thought about eliminating the evap and egr, but I didn't know the MAP sensor was there, thanks alot.
