Default CRX exhaust problems

Hey,
Im new to the board and have a 88 jdm dohc zc crx.
Problem is after I did my swap my exhaust is really dam loud and exhaust smoke actually gets pushed out of the exhaust pipe really hard. Whne I rev to 4-5k it makes a decent cloud of dirty smoke.

What could my problem be? I think I also may have a small hole in my exhaust just before my muffler, could that be causing all the rukis?

Kevin

What color is the smoke? I highly doubt that the exhaust leak u speak of (hole somewhere before the muffler) is causing anything but a exhaust leak sound. So that could be why its kinda loud, but it depends on the size of the hole.

it isnt a huge hole but the weld that connects the piping to the muffler has broken a bit and I can feel it spitting air. But could that be causeing my exhaust to be that dam loud or to push the smoke hard out of the tail pipe

The hole only causes an exhaust leak, and those can be loud. What color is the smoke?

the smoke is pretty just dirty and a little yellowish, its only when I rev. At idle (1100rpm) it just sounds like a built v8 and the exhaust pushes out of the pipe.
I cant get it certified til I fix this

YELLOW???

BLUE is usually oil
black is fuel
white is rad fluid, and will smell sweet if you have normal rad fluid.

not sure about yellow..

I dont think it sounds like a "built V8" and if you continue to think it does, than u probably never heard one before. The "built V8" sound u are referring to is MOST LIKELY due to your exhaust leak. I really dont know what causes yellowish exhaust smoke. I really need a lot more details like whether or not the motor has had a tune up, are you getting horrible gas mileage, does the motor still have power when accelerating, etc.. Help me help you.

BTW, i think your idle speed (1100rpm) is a bit too high.

Just get an exhaust on the car... Use it as an excuse to get a good one, or have a muffler shop fab one for you out of a dynomx muffler.

Or you can do it the ghetto way, with duck tape and beer cans.

I havent got the car actually out of my driveway due to my car not having an alternator installed. I dont think it has had a tune up but I checged the oil and put it brand new ngk iridium plugs and ngk wires.

Could the loud noise just be cause by the little hole? If so Im gong to go and pick up a new muffler tomorrow and weld it on. Would this help?

How many times do i have to tell you? YES. Have u ever heard what an exhaust leak sounds like??? You also might wanna check for other holes along the whole exhaust system, because when there is one hole there are most likely others.
