This should be pointing down. i.e. If the bulb were a clock, the return wire would have to be in the 6 o'clock position

It still shouldn't look that bad even with the return wire in the wrong spot. Can you take a pic of the bulb? Some hid kits come with a d2s\d2r bulb with a 9006 adapter glued on and it may be crooked or something.. just an idea

as for it making the beam pattern better, yes and no. it just makes it so there isn't a cut-out/distortion in your cut-off.

the HID bulb has to be mounted into the housing with the bubble in the EXACT place that the halogen filament would be.. so take your HID bulb back out, set it next to the stock 9006 bulb and make a new mounting piece for the HID bulb so that the bubble and the filament line up as well as both mounting collars.. then you will be fine

Suppose they didn't line up (capsule\filament), is it possible to rebase an already rebased bulb? My passenger side bulb is a PITA to get out so I haven't checked to see if my return wire is facing down or not yet but I'm thinking if they were not glued on right and it doesnt line up I'm going to want to do it the right way. possible?

Compare it to the halogen bulb. As already said, you want the little glass bubble inside of the hid capsule to be at the same location as the filament in the halogen bulb. So hold the bulbs to that the 9006 mounts are even and then compare. If they are uneven then you are going to have to be extra careful to remove the old 9006 base and put on a new one.

If you want, take a pic of them side by side and I'll try to give you some feedback.

Can someone teach me how to rebase to a 9006 base? also theres 2 adjusting points on the integra headlight...one of them you can use a screw driver to turn...can someone tell me how that adjusts the headlight...as in what direction?...thanks!

The headlight adjustments will not fix your problem. Does your D2S bulb look like the one pictured above (D2S base) or does it look like mine (rebased to fit 9006):

If your bulbs do not have a 9006 base like what mine have, then there is no way to get the correct beam pattern unless you change it to a 9006 base.

As for actually rebasing the bulb, I have no idea how to go about it, I bought mine as such.

Mine are the same as yours patrick, 9006 ring is kinda glued/epoxied onto the bulb.

When they glue the adapters on do they do it so the return wire is at 6 o'clock or do they just throw it on? I havent checked with my bulbs yet

Return wire shadow will always be present. However, if it faces down, it is within a toned down sector anyway (see regarding yellow sector above), so this should never be seen in the output from an OEM HID headlamp. </TD></TR></TABLE>

that's what mine looks like and mine's fawked up.... (just did bmw retrofit with hella hid kit for integra)
so i need new capsules? since i use a hella hid kit if i get new capsules...do i have to splice the power and ground of the harness from the ballast and solder it to the capsule?
sorry if i'm thread jacking...sorta useless if i made a new thread since mine's really similar to yours

bmw projectors will not work with 9006 based HID bulbs.. you need to buy OEM HID D2S capsuls and your HID will work just fine, no ballast modification needed.

I'm pretty sure my return wire does not face straight down, but I don't really notice any problems.

My bulb that I pictured there is a D2S base made to fit 9006 (and when I mean made to fit, it fits nice and neat just like stock, and airtight since I added an o-ring from a 9006 bulb).

The bulb pictured up at the top is an un-modified D2S base.

Other D2S bulbs are rebased to fit 9006, but they do not retain the D2S base (that's the one that the big red connector connects to from the ballast). On these there is usually 2 wires coming out of the bulb that connects to 2 wires from the ballast or ignitor. Catz HID kits are made this way.

What I like about mine is that is uses an OEM D2S connector on the ballast, which makes it appear more like an OEM application (less wires cluttering the engine bay).

If your D2S bulb does not have that mounting ring w/ 3 tabs sticking out, exactly like a 9006 bulb, then it won't work. I would advise not trying to "rig" it to make it work, because that is what causes fawked up beam patterns, and will probably allow moisture to enter the projector housing.
