No spark on ZC swap
Everything was wired up correctly, I double checked and corrected that today. Fuel is now being delivered I believe, because I can smell a slight hint of gas from both engine bay and rear of vehicle. NO spark. I'm going to try replacing the Distributor Cap since it's cracked on one mounting point, and has possible cracks along the inside towers I think they're called. Is there anything I can do to narrow down what's causing this no spark condition? I have access to a multimeter so I can test whatever needs to be tested.
Did you buy a new dizzy, or are you using what came w/ the motor? If it's teh original dizzy I'd go buy a new one w/ a new cap & rotor. Also, amke sure to quadruple check your wiring, and make sure everything is color to color, and that you did not cross teh 2 white wires. That should work..........
It's not a good idea to try switching the two white wires. Usually if you try to start the car with the wires in the wrong position, it will short the ignitor. If you already have the wires in the wrong position then you have a bad ignitor and you will need to fix that after fixing the wires.
The way to tell them apart is the ignitir wire is the thicker one. It is also the only one that is not paired. With a continuity meter you can trace it back to B15 and 17 at the ECU.

I didn't have the 7 pin plug that was supposed to go there. I had a 5 pin and a 2 pin so I didn't mess with that wiring. I replaced the dist. cap & rotor, still no spark. Also, I am not getting fuel now. I do have a gas leak and I might be out of gas so that will be figured out whenever I have the time this week between work. I have a DX, should I get the Si Distributor?

you need to use the 89 Teg dizzy, you can either change your wiring harness to accept the Teg dizzy plug, or you can change the dizzy to accept the stock harness' plug. But, you will need the Teg dizzy, the Dx or Si dizzy won't work. And to the other guy that says you will short out the ignitor- that hasn't been the case for me, and since I didn't have teh ZC harness I have to repin the Teg dizzy to fit the stock round Si plug on teh harness side & I have replaced teh dizzy 4 times & I have had the white wires in the wrong position every time
and my ICM is still functioning.

Running the original ZC distr. (thought I could get lucky) with a 89 teg ECU. I'll try replacing the ignitor & coil with the one out of my DX and see if that'll give me spark.

Would an ECU gone bad be able to create a no-spark condition without a CEL? Just trying to see what possibilities are out there. No CEL, no codes on ECU. I plugged in my DX ECU and that didn't throw any codes either.
i know this sound stupid but you should make sure you have the right harness i was using a si harness on my hf w/ zc and wasn't getting spark .if it's the proper harness check the ignitor and the ground on the thermistat housing...good luck dude
If you still don't get spark then check out the ignitor, and ensure that all of the pins in teh dizzy plug & harness plug are making contact. I was a dumbass & all of the pins weren't able to make contact so my car wouldn't start & it took several days to figure out
holy **** i feel dumb. As many times as I checked over my wiring, I missed the same 3 wires everytime.
-skipped step- Connect the two yellow/black wires from the DX injector harness to the yellow/black wire on the injector resistor box harness. -end step-
Now I'm throwing I think a code 9. 10 short blinks so taking into account the first short blink for the ECU saying it's working, that'd be 9. Correct? CYP (Cylinder Position Sensor). More fun, at least I sort of got a day off today. Thanks for all your help.

For the code 9 make sure that the 2 wires going to the CPS are not backwards, and make sure that the connections are solid as stated already for teh dizzy wiring.......

I have continuity between the individual connections, but not throughout. My wires are connected well, but I can't find continuity from one wire to another. What is it supposed to read?

I will see if I can find it in my helms when I get home. This is for the CPS still correct?

Is continuity supposed to be able to be read? I think there are magnetic parts in the CPS, just wondering if that might affect a continuity reading.
