RSX TYPE S VTEC points!
i just got an rsx type s, i used to own a fast integra gs-r, but one thing im not sure of is this: the vtec points of the rsx, is there only one, or 2 like in my gsr. in my gsr vtec hit at 4800, then the next butterfly at 5800. now im pretty sure vtec hits at 5800 in the rsx type s, but im not sure. if anyone has anything talk.
some of my friends say that when vtec kicks in it slows your car down (safety pe-caution), but i read in some sites saying "VTEC which allows it to extract turbo level specific output from its engines without having to suffer from the disadvantages of turbocharging" who'z rite then?

Dude, Vtec is like a powerband on a motorcycle when you hit the powerband your up and gone... Vtec does not slow you down at all. If you dont know much about vtec then you are not a honda guy, Dont post anymore up on this site please.

The GSR could change its VTEC activation point based on throttle position. However at full throttle it allways engages at the same rpm.

5.8k sounds about right but search is your best friend, its been talked about before. the crossover point is also difficult to hear, but you can hear it if u pay attention

it has nothing to do with carbs here. GSR intake has dual butterflies that open up at different points. H22 should have it too i believe.

In your GSR u probably had a dual stage IM, witch would kick in at 4800 and then vtec would kick in later. On the Type S they iVTEC kicks in at 5800 but you only notice one tone change because the Type S has a single stage IM.

The B18C1 does not have "2 VTEC points." VTEC is either on or off, there is no in-between. The B18C1 engages the high-RPM VTEC cam lobes at 4400RPM.
At 5800RPM, the B18C1's intake manifold switches from the long low-RPM runners to the short high-RPM runners. This has absolutely nothing to do with VTEC.
The K20A2 of the RSX Type-S engages the high-RPM VTEC cam lobes at 5800RPM. The RSX Type-S has a single-stage intake manifold; however, Honda is using a two-stage intake manifold on the base RSX with the K20A3 engine.

i did read about vtec... but my 'so-called' pals keep badmouthing honda, so i came here to get info to prove them wrong

dual stage intake on GSR and rsx base, single short runner on type-s and SiR(exact same intake in fact). Neither of these has anything to do with butterfly valves as I was attempting to teach to the first guy. rsx base and SiR are the exact same engine except for the intake manifold. Vtec has to do with the rpm at which the cam changes lobe profiles. Some vtec engines switch profiles on intake cam and exhaust cam, others such as the new SiR only work on the intake cam(booooo).
As for the "i" in ivtec. It is continuously variable cam timing according to engine load and throttle position. So don't buy cam gears for a K series cause they won't help you.

It's because of people like CivicSI03 which is making Honda-Tech Fall apart. Guys like this think they know everything about honda and that there never wrong. Guys like him think you should know everything about honda before you even buy one, so GOD forbid if you ask a newbie ?. Anyway not to many people on HT own a RSX so your no going to get to much help here, the only thing your going to get is smart-*** comments and insults. You should try http://www.clubrsx.com they have a newbie forum for you to ask ? and not get flamed by people who think they know everything just because of their high post count.
oh a BTW in my S the VTEC doesn't activate until 6000 rpm

It's because of people like CivicSI03 which is making Honda-Tech Fall apart. Guys like this think they know everything about honda and that there never wrong. I dont like b-series basics because its time to move on to the k-series and I was just saying the same rpm the IntegraDC5 did and thats at 4800 (which doesnt really matter to me). you probably dont know what a dual stage im is.

the first thing you heard on your gsr was the intake change-over from long to short runner length...The second thing you heard at @6000 was the vtec on the camshafts...
Yes the k20a2 aka rsx-s has vtec on both intake and exhaust...and ivtec on the intake cam...the k20a3 in the base rsx is almost identical to the k20a3 in the ep3.
