The new Cobra's are nice machines, but the S is more fun on the roadcourse. I've heard the new generation Cobra will have an independent rearend which would make for a better handling car.

00 Silverstone 15K on the odo and paid 24K but that was last year sometime

Dude, I never said the S would win, I just said it was more fun. That's my opinion. It's a smaller more nimble car. I would like to race a Cobra out at Texas World Speedway though, just to see how much of a difference there is in the turns.

why would it be more fun? s2000s are fun cause they're rwd. but i mean seriously a i4 engine making 240hp @ 9k rpms or some bullshit. thats homo. having to wait till 7k rpms to get moving.

i have a video of a lingenfelter s/c z06. it rapes every ******* car out there. and guess who everyone is passing? s2000s/miatas/integras/ferraris

the mustangs even 80s style are passing everyone. the street cars that lead the pack were vettes/camaros/mustangs/porsches

thats it. everything else was passed at will

Do us all a favor - you stop being a "homo" and go post on a Ford Mustang site with your bad self and leave us S2000 fans alone.

i'd drive a s2000. i just wouldn't buy one when they cost that much. i would rather get a car that is worth ~30k

s2000s get terrbile gas mileage too **** lol.

they are nice cars though, they look cool and are RWD... RWD is the best thing about them. i'm not flaming s2000s i'm just telling the truth.

s2000
240hp
20/26 mpg

z06 vette

you obviously haven't a clue what you are talking about. You are talking about the lingenfelter compared to an S2K they are in two different worlds. The S2K has 50/50 weight disbursment and can out handle any mustang or camaro out there even the SVT. The SVT just has a ton of power to make up for it's lack of handling. As for 80's mustangs beating S2000's, maybe very modified 80's mustangs and only on the 1/4 mile track. I don't want to drive in a straight 1/4 mile line all day long that's why I bought the S over the mustang. And as for gas mileage...that all depends on how you drive the car. My S2K gets great mileage when I keep my foot out of the accelerator. BTW most mustangs out there get a really good shot of my taillights

you're so full of **** its hilarious

i was comparing a STOCK z06 to a STOCK s2000
and STOCK svt mustang to a STOCK s2000

svt & vette will blow the s2000s doors off.
they will all handle the same, and the svt and z06 will outrun it in the straights.

you should watch a ******* road race before you talk stupid ****.

s2000
Skidpad 0.87 g (300-ft. Skidpad)

svt mustang
Skidpad 0.90 g

z06 vette
Skidpad 0.98 g (200-ft. Skidpad)

03 neon srt4
Skidpad 0.85 g (300-ft. Skidpad)

04 mazda rx8 MT
Skidpad 0.88 g (200-ft. Skidpad)

these are all from car and driver

you think just because a car is "domestic" it handles like ****? too much rice

these 80s mustangs where modified, so where the s2000s and porsches and everything. it handled just as well as any car out there. porsches/ferraris/lambo/s2000k anything.

what do you think is the huge ******* difference that makes "import" cars handle better than "domestic" ones.

you're blinded by pride in your car.

You are obviously a bench racer and are basing all of your times on one magazine, which appears to be C&D. The times you have posted came from an older issue of C&D. FYI, Motor Trend had the S2000's 1/4 at 13.8@101. Maybe you should go to http://www.s2ki.com and see what all of those guys run and quit bench racing. I am just giving you a time from another magazine just so you can compare it to yours.

I have seen skidpads for the S2000 from .88-.92 g's stock. Nobody said the S2000 could take the SVT Cobra on a road course, it would just be more fun to drive because of its "go cart" capabilities. You are comparing apples to oranges my friend. The S2000 is a true enthusiasts car!

I am not putting down the Cobra nor the Z06, but am stating an opinion based on personal experience and knowledge.

that guy just did lol.
why can't i compare them? they're all front engine rear drive. they definatly wouldn't race in the same class though because of the power output differences. but this guy said a stock s2000 would beat a stock svt mustang in a road course and it just isn't true.

i bet it would be hella fun to drive too. all RWD cars are. i'm not puttin down the s2000 either i'd drive one definatly. i'd s/c it if i had it but still they're cool cars. just OVERPRICED for their stock performance.

what makes it a "enthusiasts" car. meaning the only people who really appreciate it are the owners...?

Whatever, you have your own opinion. It's an enthusiasts car because you actually have to know how to drive it as far as being in the powerband and maintaining it stability. The S2000 is not a very forgiving car on a road course and you have to know what you are doing to keep it under control. At this point in time, it's almost in a class of its own as far as price and a couple of other minor things are taken into consideration. If you want to debate with me IM me.

Oh yeah, the S2K can be classified as a mid engine sports car because the engine is located behind the front axle. Go drive one bud!

So this wasn't you mentioning the Lingenfelter? hmm...must have been another jackass with your same name

You can tell he's a bench racer because all he can do is copy a magazine. BTW I never said the S could outrun the Mustang just out handle that. Some American cars handle superbly like the Z06 (which has an independent rearend). The Cobra has a solid axle rearend and that is one of it's major handling drawbacks. I suggest you get your head out of the magazines and go drive one of these vehicles. As for being ricers...is it so bad to have respect for Japanese and American sports cars? The S2000 is the best car in its class (roadster) for the money and there is no debating that...just read all those magazines that say so I'm sure you've read them all and have the specs memorized...

it CAN'T OUT HANDLE A MUSTANG. THEY HANDLE THE SAME.

before you insult me, you should acually look up your "facts"

03 GT Mustang <----------- Maybe thats what you're thinking of?

Suspension (Rear) Live

03 SVT Mustang

Suspension (Rear) Independent

03 z06 vette
Suspension (Front) Independent
Suspension (Rear) Independent

03 s2000 MT
Suspension (Front) Independent
Suspension (Rear) Independent

the video was just made by the ppl driving the lingenfelter corvette. all these other cars were racing with them. any everysingle car out there except the integras and miatas were trying to get around the s2000s

stock convertable SVT mustangs. z28 camaros.

face it they handle the same as every other car and they are gutless. and they cost 30k!

i've driven a z06 and a svt mustang. no one i know is stupid enough to pay 30k for a 4 cylinder "sports car" so i don't have access to one.

all i did was express my opinion that s2ks are overprice for their performance. they're sexy cars, just 9k revving gutless 4 cylinders aren't my thing.

if honda dropped the NSX motor in their. it would be fast as ****, and worth 30k.

how can a NSX cost 70k? with a v6...

You are basing all of your opinions on how many cylinders a car has and specs from magazines. If an S2000 isn't worth the 30K, what about an Sti or an EVO perhaps. They don't seem that gutless if you ask me.

It's been said before, the S2000 wasn't designed for straight line speed, it is a pure out of the box track car. There ya go, happy now? Quit comparing apples to oranges. If you want to compare the S2000 to something, compare it to the Boxter(S), Audi TT, 350Z vert, and previous the series BMW M powered roadster. You are obviously not very educated within the automobile area. Hell, a Boxter, and Boxter S($50,000-58,000) cost just as much or more than a Z06. Carerra's and NSX's are higher in price as well. It's all about what you want dude, and these are the people that chose the S2000 over something else, so grow the hell up and get the hell out of here.

BTW, I would love to have a Z06. I think it's a great car and a great all around performer for 50K. I would take it over the Cobra any day of the week. Hell, I'd take an Accord over the Cobra due to reliability issues and fit and finish. I went and looked a new Cobra at my local dealership and the body panels weren't even lined up properly. Can we say POOR! You're probably sitting there thinking, "this guy is complaining about body panels", but some people want a car with quality (excluding the Z06 for the most part because it's pretty nice minus some of the interior). Sometimes people like a little more class than what you think of as "performance." The S2000 is a very enjoyable car and it's as simple as that.

OH YEAH, what kind of car do you drive? You are probably some sixteen year old kid trolling other boards.
