Default Vtec works but won't rev past 6500rpm

I have a h22 in my civic with a vafc, the car runs and everything works no (cels). but when I hit 6500 rpm it does a fuel cutoff. I am assuming it is the vafc. Does anyone no what wires can get screwed up to make this happen, the vtm wire is hooked up and everything, and the car sometimes can make it up to 7500rpm with no questions asked. Does anyone have a "simple" diagram for wiring the vafc so I can double check it over..... thanks guys!

your cars in safe mode or doesnt recondnize something connected to the ecu I say take it to someone who knows what they are doin or else youll be spnding more money on something you just broke. I say leave it and take it to a professional bro be safe about it.

Its either something with your ecu or with your distributor. My car can't go pass 4k right now due to some distributor problem.

One time I accidentally left the speed sensor wire disconnected out of the tranny and it did that exact same thing. The VAFC would let it VTEC but the fuel would shut off at 6500 RPMs.

VSS is your prob....i had the same issue...and eventually the ghost code dissapeared and i had to fix the problem....so either replace your vehicle speed sensor or find out whats causing it to read that way....mine was fine...just i had another wiring issue that confused the system...

Are you sure that VTEC is kicking in at all? When the second set of runners open, it changes the sound of the motor. 6500 is redline if the VTEC system doesn't engage, so I would guess you're not getting VTEC at all... Have you checked your oil/oil pressure? For VTEC to engage, the ECU must see good oil pressure, a certain RPM, and the MAF and TPC must be reading correctly.

If you have a VAFC, it tells the VTEC solenoid when to engage. So even if you are in a situation like "safe mode" where normally it would not VTEC at all, it will still VTEC if you rev past the crossover settings on the VAFC. This is what I have seen anyway.

You're right... Now that you say that I remember my VAFC doing that as well... Scared the hell out of me hitting VTEC with a cold motor in the mornings.

But it just won't go all the way to 8000 right?

Sounds like the problem he's having.
