highflow cat..how much will it hurt?
A good oval cat is only 1-2 whp difference between it an a test pipe. There are some round 2-1/2" cats that have smaller brick (cell) area so they are more restrictive, but they are cheaper.

I remember seeing a dyno chart from Carsound, comparing their high flow cat to a test pipe setup. (both same diameter) There was only like a 1.5 hp increase with the test pipe, but that was at peak rpms... The majority of the powerband was exactly the same with the cat.
No worries about power loss.

I ran my car at the track before just straight header(stock H22), and a few months later I cam back and ran again with full 2.5" exhaust/ 2.5" In/Out carsound cat. and actually managed to pull off .5 faster with exhaust. Although that could just be my driving skills getting better, but it feels good to me

Whatever you do, do some research and ask around before you dump some cash on a carsound. A friend of mine just has his center core collapse in a chunk. Quality!

Alright. Anyone here who runs a highflow cat needs to tune their car. Atleast with an AFC. You car WILL run rich after install. You put a cat on and then the catalyst breaks down adn you wonder why. Do yourself a favor and tune your car. Carsounds are EXCELLENT quality cats. Dave wouldn't use them if they weren't.
